I want to thankyou for explaining all this I am novice at roping and am wanting to learn more. I am a intermediate rider though. So I was wondering how do you keep from getting into a wreck with the keeper and the reins and the calf pullin on it.. I can see this could be a potentially dangerous way to do it?? Like it could get tangled up in a curb bit if one was used.. I have however seen folks use bosal and mecate to rope in.. how do u do that with a keeper?

I've heard that the saddle you use is good for horses because it's wider? Does that saddle work best for you? Definitely on a quarter horse?

Is this also the process for breakaway roping I’m about to get into breakaway so is this also what you need to do or is it different?

hello sir, i have recently started calf roping, im 13 years old. I have all the equipment but i was wondering if there is a different type of rope used? ive been using my regular team rope, and tied it around my dally, but i didnt get quite a correct feel. if its a different rope please tell me about where i can find one! thank you

Get a calf rope 9.5 or 10.0

Where can u get a keeper

I think its kinda funny how you take so many precautions to not horse the horse in the slightest way(which is great), but then you have no problem roping a young calf which really puts a lot of pain on them!

I have a question my rope horse when I get off my horse instead of my horse working the rope my horse follows me to the calf. how can I fix this problem.

When you in the practice pen rope ya calf get off like u going down the rope and slap your horse back

First off you need a jerk line..

Simply Blue23 if you didn’t dally you’d go flying out of the saddle cuz the calf would pull you off

The neck strap is enough to keep the horse lined up with the calf. Useing a keeper is foolish! I´v seen were the rope slipped off the horn, through the neck strap and get caught on the keeper, it tore the bit out of the horses mouth, couple of broken teeth... lucky the horse didn´t come up with a broken jaw!

If you know how to handle a horse all that stuff ain't necessary.....
