Legit I'm really glad I could help you make a decision! That's seriously the whole point of all my videos is to help people make the best decision they can on their collection. And yeah I'll be looking into painting it as soon as I can. I have a whole bunch of other videos lined(several more Batman videos first) up, but this might need to get moved up the queue!

I got mine today. It's solid, it looks much better than i expected but i think it has some potential for customizing it. Repainting the face, replacing the cape and making the cowl fit correctly to the head could just get the job done. On the other hand, the joints feel very tigh, posing him can be a bit challenging, it has to be done very carefully.

I really love the cape I got for mine. It goes a really long way in improving the figure(whether official or KO). Have you decided if you're going to try to fix/customize yours?

Thanks! I've not quite done it yet but it's always in the back of my mind so I'll need to get around to doing it sooner or later. One person made a great suggestion of getting a Keaton head from eBay to replace the current head in the KO so I might look at that, but otherwise my main concern is how well the cowl will take the paint that I intend to use on the body.

I purchased a couple of yellows already and just need to find a matte black(or possibly a really dark grey) but the cowl is the one that worries me because the texture is so different that i'm unsure how it'll handle the paint, but stay tuned! I'm hoping to try to get that out in the coming weeks!

Enjoyed this review and comparison video! Never got the chance to get the original ‘89 NECA figure and the knock off is the only one sold by some sellers. It’s weird looking with that face, but overall it’s decent and I just keep it sealed and hanging as a good wall display. Also good use of Best Girl Tifa’s theme for the BGM.🦇❤️

Thanks so much! I actually got him and a KO Superman off of Aliexpress for just under $41 shipped. Batman alone shipped would be about $15-$16 which is fair considering it is a KO. I wouldn't spend more than $20 though on just the figure, but I think with a little paint plus that sweet cape and it makes it a pretty solid figure! @@ComicallyToys Seems like a fair deal for your orders! Got mine a couple of years back here in Manila through a chance visit to one of the shops, and I think it went for less than $20! Not bad and I could already tell it was a KO, but just wanted it for the action figure wall display next to my computer desk haha.🦇 And yep, heard the familiar medley of Tifa’s theme so had to point that out as a gamer and fan myself! I’ll check out the channel! Keep up the good work!

I got the bootleg first, I liked the figure for what it was, but I always wanted the real one. So once I got a job I went out of my way to get the real one, and I’ve got to say it’s one of my favourite figures next to predators, aliens, terminators and marvel legends on my list. The new raiders Indy by hasbro also just ended up on that list. Still a superb figure and look forward to McFarlane’s version they are selling.

Nice! Yeah my Flash movie Batman is supposed to arrive today, but I've heard he is going to be making a proper 1989 Batman as well. I'm really interested to see how that turns out!

I have 2 Mezco 89 Batman heads (one battle damaged and another neutral) that I acquired a short time ago, which I am mounting on two Neca 89 bodies. I have one legit Neca that I'm currently kitbashing (yes im sacrificing that thing in order to get a definitive 89 figure out of it) and I was wondering if buying a KO for my battle damaged custom 89 figure would be best, rather than spending another 100 plus dollars for an authentic. This video helped me decide a KO would be more than good enough for the damaged 89 Keaton figure. So I thank you for this very good comparison video. :) Mezco actually nailed the 89 cowl design. It's the most accurate looking one out there.

Nice! I generally stick to the 6-7 inch scale so I can limit my collection, but if I saw that 18" one for that price I don't know if I could possibly pass it up. I have very fond memories of a 12 inch Batman Returns figure I had as a kid and now I'm kind of tempted to find it on eBay.... haha!

I just picked up the 1/4 scale 1989 Neca Batman at a local toy store (The Toy Department) in SW Ohio. They’re huge figures at 18” high. I have one other 1/4 figure, the Ben Affleck Batman from Batman vs Superman. One interesting note, is the cape was on backwards on my 1989 Batman. I removed the head and put the cape on correctly. It’s a very cool figure, but heavy!

I'll be interested to see if the upcoming 89 Batman from McFarlane has better accessories or not. Fingers crossed, but I'm betting they won't be any better...

The plastic on the original one is a bit brittle than the KO. I also have both. The knees on my Neca broke off from posing yet my KO did not...

The Necca looks to be worth $20, and the knock off worth $10, including shipping. The aftermarket cape is awesome. Don't recall if you mentioned the cost. I'm definitely interested in seeing the knock off suped up!!

I suspect the retail on it was probably around $20, but even by today's standards I'd say it'd be worth $30-ish. The KO was in fact like, under $15 shipped, but I got it with KO Neca Superman(I'm still deciding if I want to try a similar video for that one). The cape was a very reasonable $18, but looks like it's gone up a dollar. Even still, it's great! And yeah I'm looking into seeing how good we can make that KO. Lots of other Batman videos and other stuff in the works, but I hope to get to it soon. Thanks for your support!

Yeah it definitely is! A couple of viewers commented to let me know so good eye! Yeah I got really lucky and was able to trade a Marvel legends figure for the in box one you see in the video. So for me it's totally worth it, but at current prices that's a harder decision to make. And it looks SO good in the McFarlane Batmobile too! Video on that coming soon. 😁

I've never seen that one in person either, though obviously I'd love to have one... haha. But yeah I completely agree. I'd love to see 6-7 inch scale versions of their Penguin and Catwoman too. I am tempted to get the Penguin done by Mattel though... But because a Catwoman doesn't exist so it's like UGH, ya know? I couldn't find a scaled Joker from the first film either.

Would LOVE to see a repaint vid. I have two knockoffs. One to stay as it is, the other to go inside the Spin Master Batwing I’m customizing a bit. The one for the Batwing I want to repaint but haven’t done many at all. KO is a decent fig. I’ve been able to get both of mine for about $15 a piece.

$15 is a solid price all things considered! What other customizations are you doing on your Batwing? I've seen some 3d printed parts on eBay to create a cockpit, but I'm unsure if that's something I want to do. And yeah I think I'll need to really get around to seeing if I can figure how to repaint the KO!

@@ComicallyToys I’m a complete noob at customization, but worked on a few “non essential” figs during the pandemic. JAKK’S big BB-8 was fun, as well as really going at an orange and white Rubie’s Stormtrooper blaster and really making it look legit. So far I just used foam core to work the interior, but pretty sure I’ll go the 3D printed route because it looks so much better. Used hot glue with the foam core to ensure easy removal moving forward.

I'd be interested in seeing some foam work too. Honestly I think all the post work whether it's foam or 3D printed might end up being similar in terms of how much time it takes. That's why I'm kind of torn on it.

funny.. i also have both versions but my knock off looks so different... it has not these purple lips and also has no face painted with flesh.. its flesh plastic... and the Bat Symbol is also very good... so its a real good but different Version

Bummer. I wonder if maybe the prices of them might come down a bit with the Mezco one now out there. And I think McFarlane may be making an actual 1989 version(not just the The Flash movie version) so that could possible bring down the price. Best case scenario would actually be NECA just doing a re-release. They are making a super sweet replica belt(which I've pre-ordered because I'm such a nerd) so it's not entirely out of the question that they might re-release it! I'd say if they did, and released it at that $29.99 price then it'd be an absolute solid buy.

Sorry I'm not familiar of any knock offs of that one. Have you considered commissioning someone to 3D model and then print the parts you'd need for your dio? Obviously you'd still have to paint, but it might be much cheaper depending on what your goals are. I'd love to see the end results though so please share if/when you get around to that!

Knock off is good for parts. The body looks good and even the cowl. The head is the worse thing on it.

Holy freaking late reply, Batman! Sorry I'm so late on responding to this haha! While that's not a terrible idea, the problem is that I don't think the McFarlane Keaton head looks that much like Keaton. Though there are some 3rd party heads on eBay that might work...

I was SO lucky to get the one I got in the video through a trade! And I didn't have to trade anything crazy for it either. The person I traded with was just an awesome collector helping out another collector. Do you think you might get the KO? I'm still holding out hopes that NECA might do a re-release!

They seem to have been very contracted out to McFarlane. I like McFarlane but the lack of Keaton's likeness on his new toy releases has just been disappointing. I can't blame anybody buying a KO Neca and rehauling it with how much the official goes for.

NECA has still been putting out other Batman 1989 stuff so I'm hoping they can sneak the 7 inch figure in again since it would be well in line with the other stuff, but fair point about McFarlane. He definitely won't give up Batman if he can help it. My main concern with the repaint is how well paint will apply to the cowl. The cowl is just so weird compared to the original, but I'll have to figure it out!

@@ComicallyToysan improved re release would be awesome, it's a great oportunity to improve the joint system and the overall proportions, the guy's shoulders are a bit narrow, the hips are a bit wide, the arms are a bit thin and short, maybe adding an extra couple of interchangeable hands.

I'm actually still hoping McFarlane makes a proper 1989 Batman figure because the one he did release(I just released a video on the whole movie wave!) is based specifically on the movie. Haha I think for the time that it was released it was likely a really great release, but by today's standards, less so. I do have a video coming soon of each batman in the McFarlane Batmobile! Do you have any 1989 Batman figures? I'm still interested to see if/when McFarlane makes a proper one as opposed to The Flash version.

It's sad, we have to deal with fakes (bootlegs, class A copies, clone, knock-offs) while also having a hard time looking out for the lowest priced genuine stuff with kind sellers. I urge everyone not to buy these fakes even if they're quite good and detailed too to force these chinese fake makers to create their own brand (like Hot Toys, who would expect something of quality would come from Hong Kong in the last 25 years) if they are that quite good at manufacturing fakes, so that they create their own sculpt (they're showed it here with the additional cool arm armor), mechanism, lots of interchangeables and all those details at their lower prices to force the top makers like Hot Toys, Sideshow to also lower their prices significantly but still have even more amazing quality. Also, initially one may feel he or she got a great deal with the fakes but you won't have that peace coz' you'd still desire the genuine. God bless, Rev. 21:4

I was really fortunate to get a real one from a fellow collector at an amazing price/trade! I think if people hold out long enough then they can definitely get one at a fair price. Though I'm really just holding out hopes that NECA can manage either another run of these or an updated version.

Chinese knock-off figures have had a history of using brittle plastic and break much easier when posing. Did you feel that with this figure?
