I'm pausing the video to comment on ribbing. I always use combination knitting for ribbing now. This is where you wind the yarn clockwise around the needle for purl stitches, therefore using less yarn, therefore cinching the purl stitch a bit closer to the knit stitch. It does mean that that purl stitch is twisted...so you have to purl it through the back on the next row...but it's not difficult because of the way the stitch presents itself. It really becomes natural quite quickly. I also do this on a purl stitch that follows a cable.

I want to double down on the last comment. Combination knitting is a game changer. I never liked the way my ribbing looked before switching to this technique but now it really is lovely. I learned it by watching Andrea Mowry's tutorial but there are many videos on combination knitting available. It's really easy to adjust to and makes all the difference.

LOVING the shift and the sibling sweater especially! Everyday, I get more and more enticed to make the nightshift shawl. Didn't think to use sock yarn for it until this video, so im extra hyped

RIGHT! For some reason I was like I can’t do these DRK patterns because they have color shifting yarn, but I think the solids actually help the texture shine more than blend!

I love Grenouille Co. - would really love to knit with their yarn one day! The colors of your sibling sweater suit you so well ❤ And the tshirt plan sounds really good, the yarn and gauge combined might finally make for a recipe that you’ll enjoy wearing!

Love the lower contrast of your sibling! On my to do list it goes...😃 I think your green mohair tee would look good with a thin, tight long sleeve tee underneath. Something like the thinnest Uniqlo Heattech. I generally prefer natural fibers but I really like those.

I'm having a similar problem with the ribbing on a sweater! I just finished one sleeve cuff and tried to not bring my yarn so far forward for my purls, and then pulling the yarn further back when I switch to my knits. As a continental knitter this isn't my usual way of knit and purl but the sleeve looked better than my neckline! 🥲

I guess it depends on if you end up sewing it down or knitting it down? If what I'm visualizing works, though, I think you could just turn the sweater itself inside out while picking up the stitches to knit it down with. Still way less turning than short rows!@@highfiberknits

With my sibling sweater I found the collar doesn’t look overly large at all once I knitted it - I did it sewn down and no elastic and it sits great! Love the colour of yours! (Also your cowl is so pretty, such great spring vibes!)

your pinky health is def worth more than a (albeit very pretty) sock for sure, I didn't listen to that feeling when I made some colourwork mitts for a friend and I ended up not being able to knit for a week+ due to thumb pain 🥲

You also could knit the knitstichtes of the ribbing through the back loop. Thats making the 1 by 1 ribbing neater ❤

Your neckline on your sibling sweater, if I were making it I would cycle down through needles, so start on the recommended needle size, knit a third, size down and knit the nest third, then size down needles again and knit the last third. Then after the fold size back up each third.
