Would love to see a picot edge on that corset strap top 😍 Also for wanting to use bright hand dyed yarn I’m really enjoying getting a variegated fingering weight and holding double with a solid/tonal that matches one of the colors in the variegated yarn. Currently working up a jacket with a variegated red/denim/green/gray hand dyed held with a grey solid and I keep stopping to stare at the fabric so often I’m going even slower 😂

ooh that's such a good idea of holding it double to tone it down a bit!!! your jacket sounds so cool!

I love the design idea of the sweater but you’re right, the fit doesn’t seem to be the best 🤔The sweater probably pulls back because there isn’t enough back neck shaping, so basically you’re back neck doesn’t have enough space but it needs to get it from somewhere and that somewhere is the open neck. (If the sweater had a crew neck it would probably give that kind of choking feeling.) Try comparing the back of the collared sweater to a sweater that has a fit you like and you’ll see the back is way more of a trapezoid. I think many indie designers have the feeling that they need to come up with a design completely from scratch but there’s no shame in knowing basic garment construction proportions and applying that knowledge. I hope you know what I mean 😅

Thanks for commenting! I get what you're saying and I wondered if that was the case as well, but actually the first two samples had much more back neck shaping with a very pronounced trapezoid shape due to the way I made the upper back, and I felt it was negatively affecting the fit. A back neck drop of ~1" is often suggested based off my research into this and looking at sizing charts, which is what the newest sample has using short rows - and I'm happy with the fit of that one! :) I don't feel a need to reinvent the wheel, I just started this first sweater for fun without any intention of creating a pattern, and later did more research to improve the fit after so many people asked about it.

@@starcrossedknits As long as you like the fit, that's all that matters! 😊
