    From chatting with several Nordic friends, of all sizes, it is quite normal to only have a few sizes in patterns because knitters over there have a lot of experience and are used to scaling up and down patterns to fit other sizes. They find this need for 10 sizes in a pattern to be strange, because you already have all the information you need in the pattern. I find this charge or not being size inclusive is often aimed at Nordic designers, and perhaps we need to consider their culture, and not hold them to North American norms. Which is not to say that they shouldn’t accommodate the knitters in the market they are targeting- but when they are writing for Nordic knitters and then translating for English speaking knitters who want access, it’s understandable that they are writing and grading within their own home market. Just a thought!

    Thank you for your thoughts on this that’s a great point! I am definitely more used to patterns from North American and UK designers that tend to do a large size range, so thats a really interesting point about the way different cultures view pattern construction!

    That houndstooth sweater is incredible! The color options are truly endless, a classic black and white would be so nice but I’m thinking maybe a monochrome dark berry and light pink would be so so cute too! And the tailored vest?! YES YES YES

    Fun to see your video pop up in my feed, you're so delightful. Love the color-changing cardigan color choices. "In this year of our Lord 2024", ☺️ let's give designers the freedom to publish patterns as they will without the fear of being cancelled or called out negatively. I'm a bigger size girl and I'm not offended by the designer's choice.

    The pink would be soooooo good for the spring cardigan! The teal would work really well if you make it for like March, but the pink gives heavy April vibes :)

    If a designer doesn’t want to be size inclusive it is their choice. If you don’t want to support them don’t by the pattern. I am tired of people complaining about this.

    I couldn’t agree more!! This size inclusive thing has been blown out of proportion, no pum intended. 😅 Does every pattern ever written have men’s sizes?!?! Or what about *little* people? Do they have to knit children’s patterns? How about someone who is anorexic? All you hear about is huge sizes. Hummm. There are designers from countries where most people are on the thin size, hence, Petite, fill in the blank. People’s need to move on. You do you. 😊

    I love the pink-purple-white sweater color combo! The size problem is sad 😢 but the sweater looks great. For the lacy testknit I would choose the teal yarn - it is just more of a fresh feeling for me ☺️ Also - houndtooth vest, yes please! I have one (store bought) in white and grey but I would love to make one in red and white or red and black 😎 so I would love to see that pattern. And maybe a cardigan? Mmm… in purple? 🤩 now I am just getting too excited. Love your videos, looking forward to the next one 😊

    Can you do a tutorial on the Ester Skappel sweater?

  • @filzasmussen
    @filzasmussen3 ай бұрын

    Did you finish the ester skappel sweater yet? i got a few problems while knitting it, but solved it myself. but now i'm at the neck shaping and i don't know what to knit.. :D it says 'Continue with the decreases for the neck and raglan decreases on the right side. (...) Shape neckline and raglan as explained above until you’ve decreased 24 times for raglan.' BUT: 24 times means 24 rows with decreasing or 24 decreased stitches (that would mean only 3 rows... 24/8 decreases per row = 3)... but 24 rows with decreasing means 24 - 7 (because the last 7 are every row and not every other row) *2 (because only decreasing every other row) and that would be 41 extra rows an 24*8 = 192 stitches (?!) - thats waaaaay too much... :( or does it mean 24 rows in total (that would be more logic, but then the sentence is wrong...) Could you please help me? :D

    Eek okay I haven’t finished it yet, I put it on hold a few weeks ago and think I may start over with a new yarn choice… oh man yeah that’s worded weirdly, I haven’t gotten to that part so I’m not sure but I think it would mean the actual decrease since earlier in the pattern they reference repeating entire rows…

    Omg this porcelain is everything ! I'm planning on casting it on soon but I only have 220m of my contrast color, how much did you have before running out ? I'm scared of running into the same problem as you x) I'm gonna knit the smallest size so 220m *should* be enough but i'm still scared 😂🤞

    I think I used about 250m of contrast color for the second size! So you’ll probably be good to go for the smaller size!
