Im a proud Knight and its pretty sad how many ignorant people put the Knights down. We interseed to our mother Mary and our Lord savior Jesus. You should get closer to God and dont judge because good men like myself whole heartly serve the Lord. We are there to serve all and to become Knights for God. AMEN

Too bad the Supreme Council doesn't practice what they preach. Local councils are great in their communities. The Supreme Council is run by 1% Lawyers. The dispose of employees like they are trash. Lisa-Ann Rodney: Your education is flawed, listen carefully to whom they are dedicated to, they are followers of Jesus words and are faithful to God. These are men who honour and respect God/Jesus teachings, I have always known them as Good Men of Faith. Perhaps a little less Bible study and putting into practice the 10 Commandments, that is what God requested of us, being judgemental of something you know about is really an outrageous (ass)umption on your part.

It's a symbol of unity of the brotherhood. One wooden rod or piece of string is easily broken. But when they are bound together, they are difficult to break. The axe simply represents the power of the fraternal brotherhood. We are not fascists, please... We are a very charitable organization.

Answer this, Why aren't you part of the Real One True Catholic and Apostolic Church. You obviously want to be saved. Look into the catholic church. Join a RCIA progam. But don't be smug about it.

I am 4th degree n lecturer in marysville mi usa. We are seeing a decline in church n Koc.we have to refind our roots and again and take up the yoke of the church. There is much good work to be done. But we need the young men of the church to do it.i pray that order can find a way to draw this essential men into the order.

Thank you Bill O'Donnell for sharing part of their history. Where I used to live, they were among the people of the church. All of them were initiated into Knighthood and Had their wives that stood beside them too, the wives became the Daughters of Isabella who did the same work of charity as the Knights. And they celebrated together in harmony of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Cindy, Unfortunately some KofC councils have "clubhouses" that turn into drinking clubs. That is certainly not our purpose or mission and these represent only a few councils. As Grand Knight I was told that we should expand social events in the council and that some brothers avoided our meetings because we repeat the Rosary before meetings and after all... the Men's Club drinks beer and play cards. I assured all members of our council that in my two years as GK nothing would change. We would continue to support our parish and Church, pro-life activities, assistance for veterans, collecting monies for children and adults with physical and cognitive handicaps.and expand our service to including food drives, deliveries to a food kitchen each week and speakers to enlighten brothers as to the various facets of our duty to serve all. I'm very sorry that you have lost respect for our order. Again I assure you that we do plenty of good works and councils who drink and gamble are few indeed. If any Brother belongs to a council that does these things... perhaps they should consider transferring to another council that concentrates on service. Viva Jesus.

Our council will be 100 years old. We found the record of the first meeting. They spent $3 for cigars. They made welcome home kits for returning soldiers. It is written in beautiful cursive handwriting. To this day we buy coats for poor children, missals and confirmation books for our children. We also run a bingo for veterans at the Vineland memorial home for Veterans. Vivat Jesus......Jesus lives!

The symbolism is of people and countries bound together under a common centralised dictatorship, the axe. @Sean Nellis- If you’ve read Matthew or any of the Gospels, you’ll find Jesus was always confronted by the Pharisees and Saducees accusing him and his disciples of not keeping their traditions (takanots). Jesus always responded with OT scripture which embarrassed and humiliated them before the multitudes and they sought the more in planning to get rid of him. Now I ask you, do you have scripture to back up you claims?

Fine organization. A dust up with the Knights vs. the Lutherans with ticket sales going towards a local children's hospital can be done.

I''m disappointed in you, unless of course you're not really a Knight and you're here to troll. My council donates to Catholic convalescent homes, Homes for the Brave, Foster Care Agencies and such. We have dinners to fund raise and send the money right out. No Knight is this cynical about the Order unless you're really not a Knight and just here to pick a fight. Now if you are a Knight, then I'm sorry your Council has become so shallow. Maybe transfer and find a Council that's more faith-based.

Hello Scott. I am not concerned with whether or not you are disappointed in me - not sure what relevance that is here. My council was 7135 and I was also a 4th degree knight. In my first year, I was awarded the Shining Armour Award. Your dualistic thinking is what I find distasteful with Knight of Columbus so re-locating to a different Council does not address the problem. Doing good works is what some outwardly religious individuals hide behind while masking some very nefarious activities, so doing some good works does not sway mean in light of what I have witnessed.

Well, let's look at the record - as I have experienced it. The Past Grand Knight sexually assaulted a mother in the church which she shared with me after mass about a week later at coffee we have after mass. I went to the police and gave a statement about this Grand Knight and they were prepared to arrest him, but needed the victim to come forward. She told me that she afraid of what it would do to her in our small community and would not break her silence to them. The Council Treasurer was stealing funds from the charity drive which was licensed by the province. His resignation stopped the province from pulling the lottery license and pressing charges - he left Town and the Knights covered his missing money (State Level). The Priest (from overseas) was stressing the children who called him a "creeper" et cetera and told me this as I used to take the children on youth hikes in the mountains(I was a Knight at the time and this was a Knights function), . When I brought their concerns to the Knights to deal with; they choose not to interfere. Wow, parents that won't protect the children when a priest is involved and maybe there is something amiss! Years ago a different priest in our parish was molesting the children and the Knights did nothing -absolutely nothing. Finally, the police came in and arrested him and off to prison. Oh yes, one of the men, a local school principle, said; "So what he (the priest) pulled a few bra straps." I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that the Knights of Columbus showed me what Catholicism is really about at it's core. I will not take my two children, nor will I attend a Catholic church. So go ahead and tell me about all the good works you do as Knights. I was a Grand Knight and the District Deputy which is to suggest that maybe I am aware a little bit on how the organization operates. I don't doubt that there are very good self-serving Councils. This matter was brought to the Supreme level of Administration and they supported doing nothing. For those who don't think there is something wrong with the KofC then I don't know what to say to them.

Well I'm sorry that these things happened, and if you never walk into a Catholic church again I understand. My council is thriving and we have guys on the up and up. If you want to call me naive and a scumbag be my guest. But I don't condone anything any of those people did, nor do I condone Supreme's attitude towards it, although I don't know what they could have done in these cases. I will say that your case is sad, but it's also not a comprehensive representation of every church and every council. We don't have to go back and forth like this, you have an opinion and I have an opinion. The people who were punished deserved it, and no organization regardless of religious or civic background is perfect. Maybe the day I first commented I was feeling proud of what my council or assembly did that day and I came off a little snarky. I'm sorry. Forgive me or don't.

I don't think ill will of you at all. I believe that church is really a community and each community has it's own character should it decide not to have Christ at its' head. Certainly, I have seen some amazing Christian communities. Regardless, for my family and I it just didn't work out.

Intelligent people will realize that the languages are different. The sun-the son of god would make no sense in ancient egyptian. Just because the words son and sun sound similar in english does not mean it is the same in egyptian or in any of the other ancient civilizations and ancient languages. so you and everyone that sees it that way fails.

100% of my problems are between my ears! Symbols, rites, uniforms, logos are just that. Groups need compassionate leadership rooted in Jesus and for Jesus. They are good if they have these qualities. All other fluff is just that. Meaningless.

Although I am an Anglican( Church Of Ireland) who holds different doctrinal beliefs to the Roman Catholic Church and a member of 4 Protestant Fraternal Orders I found your video very interesting as I have a keen interest in ALL Fraternal Orders. In my studies of Fraternal Orders I have learnt that the Knights Of Columbus were partly formed to be a Fraternal Order for Roman Catholic men who were barred from joining the Freemasons because of Papal objections. I have often visited churches and cathedrals both Protestant and Roman Catholic and have found them beautiful religious buildings. There are no branches of the Knights Of Columbus over here in Northern Ireland where I live, as far as I know, but there is divisions of the Anticient Order Of Hibernians (AOH) which is a totally searate Roman Catholic Fraternal Order with an Irish Patriotism element to it. I have watched the AOH parade their local area before they set off for their main parade with the rest of the order's divisions on 17th March (St Patrick's Day) and 15th August ( Feast Of The Assumption Of The Virgin Mary) a few times. I believe in everyone's right to civil and religious liberty ie the right to agree to disagree on religious belief. To me if someone has a religious belief different to me they have the right to practice it and vice versa.

The First Nations was the first explores of North America. The Greeks provided creditable evidence that the Earth was round 2,000 years before Columbus. Additionally, Leif Erikson discovered North America 500 years before Christopher Columbus. Then Christopher Columbus mistakenly labeled our First Nations as Indians. It is historically embarrassing that Queen Isabelle had Christopher Columbus arrested and sent back to Spain in Chains for barbaric crimes against the Arawaks. The barbaric leader Christopher Columbus even operated sex slavery. In his journal, he wrote in 1500, " A hundred Castellanoes are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and it is very general and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls, those from the ages of 9 and 10 now in demand. " In the modern world, this action would be defined as sex trafficking. Christopher Columbus was a war mogul seeking power and gold. In his journal he wrote, " I could conquer the whole of them with fifty men and govern them as I pleased. " Columbus demanded Gold, food, and sex for his men. If the First Nations refused, he would order for their noses, ears, and hands to be cut off or kill them. The body parts of the First Nations were fed to Columbus's hunting dogs. There is credible evidence that Columbus and his men killed over 300,000 Natives through war. Christopher Columbus enslaved the First Nations for Gold. Columbus wrote, " As soon as I arrived in the Indies, on the first Island which I found, I took some Natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts." Catholic Bishop Bartolome De Las Cases wrote, " Such inhumanities and barbarisms were committed in my sight as no age can parallel. My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature that now I tremble as I write." King Ferdinand finally pardoned Christopher Columbus, but stripped his governor title for life. In Pre-Columbus days, the population of the Arawaks of Hispaniola were about 5-8 Million. By 1542, Catholic Bishop Bartolome De Las Cases confirmed a record of less than 200. By 1555, the Arawaks became extinct on Hispaniola. As a result, Christopher Columbus was accused of genocide through war, slavery, and biological warfare of disease. Even Pope Leo XIII rejected the Knights of Columbus request to have Christopher Columbus recognized as a Saint. The world is starting to apologize and recognize the unchristian behavior of killing thousands of innocent Natives. In 1994- United Nations declared Aug 9th as the International Day of the World's Indigenous People. Many US States such as Hawaii, Arkansas, Alaska, Oregon, Delaware, California, Florida, Wyoming, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington State, Nevada, Vermont, Texas, and South Dakota DO NOT recognize Columbus Day. Hawaii celebrates Polynesian Discoverers and South Dakota celebrates Native American Day. Here is a question, Would Christopher Columbus himself pass a council orientation today as a practical Catholic ? Many historians would argue absolutely not because Christopher Columbus would be a modern day convicted felon. Other ideas of Knights of Columbus reform should include NO KofC symbols should be on the chalice or any Eucharist supplies. The focus should be on Christ and not a Catholic Insurance company. No Swords should be allowed inside the church. In Matthew 26:52 Then Jesus said to him, " Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword." In fact, in 1992 St.Joseph Parish Peace and Justice Commission located in Rock Island Illinois made a good attempt to bring National attention to remove the KofC ceremonial sword inside churches and rename the Knights of Columbus. Lets join together in prayer that the Knights of Columbus Supreme office will consider reform. 1) To change the KofC order's name that is more internationally positive that embraces God's love. 2) No Knights of Columbus symbols on any Eucharist items for mass such as the Chalice. 3) No Swords in the church. Because God is all powerful, and Mary is a forever faithful servant, Catholics believe that god removed her original sin, (the rejection of god’s will,) because she never sinned, she loved God with all her heart, all her mind, and with all her soul.
