  • @MartyM.

@0623kaboom It's because that's often signiificantly more difficult in terms of both hardware and getting firmware functionality sorted out. USB means there will have to be a host (master) device and are the issues that come with the USB protocol, packet failures, device handshaking, and so on. Any time you add more variables the probability of failure & complications, complexity, and cost go up nearly exponentially. In the end, often the simplest solution is the best one. SIRI is proprietary and as far as I'm aware not open-source, meaning that's not a viable option.

You guys need to crowdfund and build a museum for your wonderful props. It needs to be shared with the public to view.

Some excellent electronics here, old coupled up with new. I loved this show as a kid in the 80s. I have seen a few kit replicas at car shows, I am not up on American cars but I think it was a Pontiac transam with auto transmission, I am not sure if the original car is still in existence but this piece of history would suit it again, as nearly a middle aged bloke it's a lovely reminder of my childhood, as for the electronics buff who designed an built the new circuit respect to you sir, fantastic work, it sounds exactly how I remember it. I remember Karr, evil Kitt, his voice box flashed green. Sadly the British actor who played Devon passed away with cancer. The Hoff is a bit older now but still performing in show business. I did not care much for the new night rider, you can't beat the old classics, they will never die, lovely to hear Kitts voice again.

I would be happier if the real voicebox behaviour had been matched. It looks like the outer bargraph's motion is quite similar to the one in the middle, but the in the real thing they acted differently. The outer bargraphs also were slightly darker, but I never saw such an original replica circuit. 😜

That is perfect! The adjustments are real neat. I remember my computer at the time this show was on, Texas Instruments TI99-4A, had an optional voice modulator box you plugged in the side to hear extra (still bad) speech or better audio in game
