There is one skill - throwing! It doesn't matter what it is. You can throw a stone, a bottle, an axe, a knife, a nail, a frying pan. This is very similar to how the shooting skill develops. Some guys ask you, "Why are you shooting with a .22-caliber rifle or an air pistol? After all, it doesn't do much good for self-defense!" I shoot to develop my skills. Of course, throwing a knife will be different from throwing a frying pan or an axe. But there is only one skill. Of course, shooting with an air rifle will be different from shooting with an assault carbine - but the skill is the same. Of course, in battle you need to know the specifics of each item. But the general skill is the same. Throw different objects to develop your skill! You never know what will be at hand when you really need a self-defense skill.

Honestly, for combat situation its good to know how to throw your knife on really short, allready "contact" distance. Its really is very efective. Also its good to be able to use both hands so you can use another weapon same time (piece of wood is really better than empty hand). I am talking from experience from HEMA swordfight where we tested it vs all sorts of swords, sabers even spears and it works really well.

This guy is hilarious and the last person you should take knife advice from. When he says if you get in a knife fight you might get cut he’s completely untrained anyone who has had any serious training with a edged weapon will tell you if someone knows what they are doing one’s going to the hospital and the other is going to the morgue you are and will be cut. Here’s why he’s full of it knives are not meant to be seen but felt and at the very last moment when it’s to late. The best knife advice in the world if someone pulls one on you you run your ass off to get away.

1: throwing knives will lead to an obvious & inevitable outcome. The bending/braking of your knife. 2: the hypothetical reasons that justify you throwing your knife are often silly & out of touch with reality. 3: the low success rate of throwing knifes even with practice is all too apparent. 4: knife manufacturers love knife throwing because you will constantly need new knifes having broke most of them because of the throwing aspect.

The ww2 western pat d 26 combat knife is one of my favorite knives that i have, it also has a solid steel tang,it possibly could be the first kabar knife, No doubt made better than the kabars made these days, that is kind of a let down, i really do like the kabar knife It held up that's what counts I agree that skills are needed for everything, especially self defense, lot of people say that citizens are weak cause we didn't join the military, the people of the usa have a duty to its country, military fights on the front lines, while the citizens fifghts on our home ground, i may not have joined the military, at the end of the day we are fighting the same fight, as the second amendment says we the people, aka minute men, what do you think of this, do you think theres a hole lot of different between soilder and minute men, just curious from your perspective of a soilder God bless brother
