@H.C.. Sorry to say but if there was no pain like a Knife, then this song is not relevant to you. Heartbreaks out of love, has some level of pain. Just like Rockwell sang the song painfully as in the lyrics: "Day and Night, I go thru my Charades". You probably need a different song with a different tune. Sorry, mate.

This is the first song in Western music that resembles sad Japanese songwriting, and it feels very good to Japanese people.
