Knife making - Pocket knife
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I made this set of pocket knives side by side. I used the first as a guide for the second. The second is made off camera, but is basically the same knife. The blade, liner and springs are made of o1 tool steel. The black one has bolsters from o1, and the scales are black ebony. I am really happy with these two! I hope you enjoy!

So much labor and hand fitting. You really have a mastery with it all. Especially with the file work! Very impressive. You could easily sell these for $250-400 once you dial in your steel and heat treat. Keep refining, and they are worth much more. Love your style!

Great folding knives you’ve made, they both look very classy. I’ve made a few folders over the years myself, mostly lock back folders. Have a try at making a lock back, it’s a bit more of a challenge getting all the pieces fitting and working together. Regards from Down Under.
@Inmyshed
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! nice! Some of the first knives I made was lock back folders. I made two. Its hard to get a good spring function, I find! Right now I am really into liner locks and slip joints, but I will try my hands on lock backs again for sure!
Really nice looking with a satisfying snap! What I especially appreciate is the space you leave between the edge and the backspring when folded! Too many folders let the edge get too close to the backspring, resulting in the edge hitting it and getting damaged when folded unless you hold the blade all the way until it's completely folded - something you don't want to have to bother about if in a hurry or if you need to fold it with one hand.
@Inmyshed

Thanks! Yes i try to get as close as possible with out damaging the blade when snapping it close. The kicker, spring tension and distance to backspring takes a long time to adjust, hehe.

Hi! Very nice and detailed knife! Can you tell me what kind of spray do you use at 2:45 for the sanding? And before the heating at 2:35? Thank you!
@Inmyshed
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! At 2:35 I quench the blade in seed oil. At 2:45 Before sanding I spray windex on the blade. It makes the sanding paper last longer, keep the dust from swerving around and it does not make the blade rust easy, like water does.
