good work, but i think you cant use a 5160 steel for diferential heat treatment, the chemestry of the steel (chrome) produce an effect in the blade when you heat, and all the blade is hardening, in 5160 is imposible to do a differential heat treatment. But i love yoy work, grettings from chile!
@MakerHA
Thank you very much, my friend. From the ones I did here, there is a difference in hardness when I do selective tempering, the scale value I can't tell you because I don't have test equipment, but in the rasp you can feel a difference, where there were slips of tempering and where it was gripped, that is, there was a difference in the thermal process. A big hug to you and everyone from Chile. 👍👍👍

What is the material that you dipped the blade in until it acquired a black color (the material placed inside the plastic tubes)
@MakerHA
The material in the smaller tube, to give the dark color, is called iron perchloride, or hydrochloric acid, and in the larger tube, it is water with sodium bicarbonate, which works as an acid neutralizer. 👍👍👍

@MakerHA

I'm not good at English, so let me use the translation. I use a glass aquarium and a cake pan. In addition, when quenching, iron heated to 700 to 800 degrees is added to reduce the viscosity of the oil and increase its fluidity. Also, if you stir at the time of quenching, a better "hamon" will come out. I watch your video a lot and I think it's a very nicely shaped knife.
