"Knick Knack" Series 1: Frame Protection Items for my 3Sixty Foldable Bike

Decided that it's really time to work through the pile of small items I have for my 3Sixty, therefore went on to create this little "Knick Knack" series starting off with the Frame Protection items! Enjoy!

    When I bought my Lightweight Brompton, (the original folding bike), it had some tape which by only a few times use, had been worn through and had become useless! So I ordered some carbon shells like yours, to make it better, and they have functioned til now. I have also sown some leather on its frame, as up its stem post. Your colleague, Chris by bike, complains that if she washes her bike the leather will become vet, and I didn't think about that, but some plastic and tape may prevent that. Also it is possible to buy a leather using velcro.

    Could you share in the order of priority the upgrades you have made so far? Could you also share briefly how you maintain your 360? E.g. do you clean after each ride, how often you clean, change grease etc?

  • @fredphua

    @fredphua

    Hey KS thanks for the comment. For upgrades, really whatever comes to mind man. For maintenance, I just do a basic wipe down with some soap water after rides. Making sure all the contact points are clean especially during this pandemic. Maybe once a month I'll clean it more thoroughly and use dry lube on the chains after I wash it. Oh.. and new installations will mostly be lined with some lithium grease on the screws too... afraid of jams. Haha

    @@kc-st appreciate it KS and congratulations on your new bike! Your question is a good one, maybe I'll plan to collaborate with some bike shop owners to share some tips normal hobbyists like us could use to maintain our bikes. Will keep that in mind. Hey David , I'm using the 100mm ones in this pic. It's suited for the stock bar because of the curvature, but if u change to bars that are longer, u may be able to use 130mm. Hope this is helpful.

    3:51 is what Brompton calls a Cable Fender Disc. It's not to protect your fork but your front brake cable, to prevent it from rubbing against the front wheel on Bromptons (or copies) that are not fitted with front mudguards. It is redundant for your bike.

    I wouldn't be too bothered with the naming conventions but it's good info, thanks for that. Seems like in my case it found new purpose other than the intended use! Cool info though. Cheers.

  • @bungee28

    @@fredphua I could care less about the naming convention. Just wanted to inform you what that part was designed for on Bromptons without fitted fenders (S-series). If you just want to prevent your fender from cable rub, a simple frame sticker would suffice. The original accessory from which this was copied is meant to hold the brake cable a distance away from the spinning front wheel, a much more important protection for the rider than to keep your front fork looking pristine..
