I remember much younger and this is one of the first games I got. I was so young at the time I thought this game was a complete masterpiece, and its oddly enough one of the things that made me start gaming a lot more. Nowadays I definitely see all its flaws and how bad the storyline was, but it is still pretty fun to replay. Game is not good, but I partially owe it credit for getting me into games a lot, so I can't really knock it to hard.

Me and my bro just beat it earlier today since it was free last month on Playstation. I gotta say I honestly really enjoyed it. Deciding to put it on Hard Mode during the 1st playthrough probably wasn't the best idea but we managed. I'm really thinking about buying Knack 2 now lol

Doesn't seem as bad as I expected based on what I heard, but being bad to replay is a big glaring flaw especially when The Wonderful 101 came out the same year with better execution of so many of the nicer stuff here (it is nice though) and Crash Bandicoot had decent replay value as well.

I completely agree and i loved this game. I'm liking Knack 2 more, but the first is still really good.

I got Knack as a launch game with the PS4 and I finished it the next morning, and I enjoyed it the whole time.

I am playing through the game now and could not agree more with your assessment! The power ups in particular feel like classic beat-em-ups wave clears but in the modern era. Nothing like smashing the ground and killing everything in sight after saving up enough energy.

I’m glad this exists. Someone who doesn’t hate knack.

thelastgogeta It's also really hard though. I got through legitimately once, but then I found the save files. They're in a text format.

Btw when you hit right after dodge, your attack’s range gets longer and this is really useful for harder modes

I just love it when games make you use the environment to your advantage... like in monster hunter using ledges and it make sense where you fight

I did beat it resently and i love it. Will definitly try to get the Platinum Trophy, even if this means, beating it 4 times ^^ And yes, even on normal it did feel hard, but at the same time, it teaches you really well to get good in the Game. After beating it, playing the (time) challenges, feels like natural automatic dodging everything. I heared that on higher difficulty the enemies don't just do more dmg, but also getting more agressive. Can't wait to see this!^^

It isn't possible, because making everybody happy includes all 4 dungeons, the wedding quest, the Romania quests, and a bunch of smaller stuff around every area, id be impressed if he could even do a fourth of the stuff you can do in this game within the 3 day cycle

Well at the end of the game each boss can be challenged upon entering the dungeon. Which only leaves only the fairies, the wedding which can be done gradually and Romani isn't that long.

I played this game around when the ps4 first came out, it felt like a fever dream though and I remember nothing but playing it with my brother

the ink and goop strategies i used were the same because i basicly allways was on fire

Knack is a very good game. Not the best. But a very stable, good game with fun mechanics and physics and a suprisingly serious story. The topic, of humans trying to always get bigger and bigger by using limited ressources and dangering their environment, reminds me of todays society and its great problems. It gives serious questions and many different characters, that I really wanted to know more about. Especially Knack and his Origin. I' m only happy that there is a Knack 2. The point was that having few enemy types isn't a problem if the enemies are diverse enough and you mix up their arrangement, count, and arena, which both Doom and Knack II do.

Hey gamechamp! Have you played knack 2 already? Because they fix a lot of the collectible stuff there and it actually is quite fun to get the collectibles! I also think they enhanced quite a lot of the game in the second one and it's really worth playing.

I think the highlight of the game for nme is the end of the game wheen Knack uses the giant relics to become gargantuan Knack.

I absolutely agree! I only ever got frustrated with the game when I was being stupid with how I went about doing things.

Kain Yusanagi Megaman is a PLATFORMER because you PLATFORM. There are PLATFORMS that you PLATFORM on. KNACK is a BEAT EM' UP because you BEAT EM' (EM' referring to the enemies) UP. I feel there is a big difference that you can't see.

Jude The Duck, it still has platforming. It just minimalizes the platforming elements, as Cerny noted. Just as Megaman is a shooter platformer, or Contra is a shooter platformer. Contra doesn't do the platforming as much as Megaman, but it does it much more than Knack does. This is why Cerny calls it a minimalist platformer, even though there are better catagories for it to be primarily noted under, which is what I was saying in my original post, which if you are paying attention, agreed with Gamechamp that it's more akin to God of War than to Crash Bandicoot.

I would consider the game to be the genre that it most resembles. Knack's platforming elements are very minor, and its beat-em-up elements very pronounced. Therefore: beat-em-up with platforming elements.

I'm glad you enjoyed this game and your excitement really is infectious but I do disagree with a few point. Specifically with this game be akin to brawllers, brawllers are fun because you have varied moves and combos that one can pull off while exploring cool new environments and getting new abilities and items ( ex: God of War, Devil May Cry, ect ). With knack the problem is less repetitive enemies as it is the feeling of never getting strong. Even as big Knack where you throw tanks you can still be killed in 1 or 2 hits and still only have 3 punches and your special crystal moves. However I will give it another try with the perspective you have presented and see if I come away with a new opinion.

I loved when Knack said “It’s Knackin’ time” and Knacked all over the enemies. Truly a 10/5 mastahpiece worthu of goty

Thank you for a fair review. I believe many biggest game reviewers didn't even play the game just said it's no good. I think game is great. Played it on normal mode. Challenging but not frustrating. easy button bashing where many many times you'll get it wrong and will laugh when dying. What saves the game is starting points on every level where you start again after dying. If you die most times you don't have to go through the whole level - you die and start nearby the enemies what killed you. I call it learning experience. Levels are great in variety, enemies are many and very different - game kept pleasantly surprising me. Yes the story is shallow, but it's easy, made with a humour. Well spent all day playing till I finished the game. After the game could not put down Arena mode what is fun. You have to think which collectibles to collect from hidden rooms to make the game easier.

you should try "Altf4" on steam, The best hardest game that makes you not getting rage easily

I mostly like Knack because I used it as a bonding experience with my dad. Playing games is what keeps us together.

at one point knack was my favourite game. it has since lost that title but i do agree with the smooth transition into sizes but i love it when medium sized knack goes into 5 STORY KNACK

I'm sorry, but most of the things you said are positive are in my opinion the bare essentials of competent design for a beat em up game. I think the consensus for Knack is that it's just aggressively average, and while I respect the fact you enjoyed it, I see nothing in this review that makes me think this game does much of anything that I haven't seen done before in a better game. Add to that it looks absolutely devoid of any charm, interesting environments, visual flair, interesting characters, engaging story or memorable set pieces, I'm still going to pass.
