KM Marimba: Beginner Warm Ups for your students!

***TIMESTAMPS FOR EACH WARM UP BELOW***
Are you just starting an instrument or even your own marimba group? These warm ups are designed to help your students build on their own beginner skills, but also to play together as a group! Whether you have students who have never touched a barred instrument before or quite a few private music students who you want to challenge in a group setting--these warm ups are for you! Or should I say--for THEM! This is Video 1 of my Marimba Warm Up Series. The next video will be for Intermediate Level Groups. Each warm up in this video focuses on a particular skill for playing barred instruments:
1. Play What I Say (2:05): Students focus on identifying notes and playing different rhythms on each note.
2. Same Pattern on the Scale (3:20): Students have to maintain control of both of their mallets to play this warm up nice and clear together.
3. Play the Scale Up and Down (5:21): Deceptively challenging, students have to play one note at a time up the scale and then down the scale. Easy? Well, they have to play together WITHOUT a leader. This warm up builds up the group's sense of beat and note accuracy. As a group. Not as easy as it sounds.
