I joined KLM Royal Dutch Airlines direct from High School in July 1971 aged 16 years and had a great airline career. Excellent carrier!

Die film kregen wij te zien op het hoofdkantoor tijdens de introductiedag toen ik in augustus 1973 bij KLM was gaan werken. Geweldig om weer eens terug te zien.

747 en MD11 was mijn favoriet. helaas zijn ze beide uitgefaseerd hier in Nederland. 747 zie je nog relatief vaak. maar de MD11 bijna niet meer.

EEN GEWELDIGE VIDEO, UIT DE JAREN 70's

Mooie tijden!

Mijn eerste vlucht was met de KLM DC10 jumbo van Amsterdam naar Paramaribo. Tussenstop in Lissabon. Begin jaren 80 waren we naar Florida verhuisd. Zomer en kerst gingen we naar Nederland met de KLM vanaf Atlanta naar Amsterdam. Vanaf Miami naar Atlanta vlogen we altijd met een oude schoolbus (zo noemde mijn moeder altijd Eastern Airlines). Ik heb altijd goede vluchten gehad met de KLM.

Mooie film ... jammer van geluid op het einde. Vooral landing op Kai Tak (omstreeks 15 min) erg spectaculair. Heb het geluk gehad ooit deze landing in de cockpit mee te maken op een nachtvlucht van Cathay ... 1 van mijn beste ervaringen ooit. Op een latere dienstreis naar HKG een mooie foto van een KLM kist in de approach daar, met mikpunt op de berg op achtergrond, mogen ontvangen van een medepassagier ...

Dit filmpje werd vertoond in het Aviodome. De muziek bij de aftiteling is 'The end of the show' van 'The Cats'.

This one must be from 1973. At 9:00 you hear Piet Veerman say to his bandmates that they are leaving on Friday 17th August. Also check the livery of that DC9 at 17:30: that baby blue top was then introduced for new planes apparently. As of 1975, the KLM would have that blue top on all its planes.

Veldhuizen van Santen was such a handsome Captain that they used him for the advertisement in the New York Times in the 70's...My ex was also a pilot for KLM & then a co-pilot 747..Veldhuizen van Santen allowed me to be in a simulator session once.. At a certain moment he said to my ex: "Shall we show your fiancée how turbulent it can be in a simulator cockpit?" What a fright! When he died in the crash in Tenerife they immediately took the advertisement away :( He was one of the best Captains KLM had then...And I do not understand how KLM could ever be blamed for that horrible accident in Tenerife, while Tower controllers were watching a football match :'( I was an airline hostess for KLM at the time..It was a terrible day for us all! I loved KLM...They took excellent care of their flight crews....Wonderful memories to look back to...
