I really appreciate your selections of music! The variety is a great way to showcase the relative differences between speakers.

So my r1700bt's will be delivered this week. I can't wait! Price & quality, Edifier ftw!

I own this model of Edifiers and went and listened to the Fives only two days ago. This vid, although very good, does in no way show the full differences of how much better the Fives are. I'm already saving for the Fives.

YES they do and look at the soundgraf he is showing and that says a lot.

In Canada, The Fives go for five times more than those Edifiers. A better comparison would be the R1700BT vs. Klipsch R-41PM. I’ve owned these Edifiers for two years and they’re decent for what they cost.

Having owned both The R41 and R51s + the 1850db(minor upgrade from 1700bts), the Klipsch are not worth their price. They use rather cheap material components in their drivers and their cabinets are very thin and resonate quite a bit. Not to mention their electronic components, especially the crossover is very cheaply made. Their internal amps also have very high noise floors and there a constant audible hiss even at 6+ feet of a listening distance. I was expecting much better from Klipsch at that price point, unless you can get them for 200$ give or take then maybe. Theyre nice to look at but sadly thats about it and there are much better options than the 41s and 51s for those prices. I would go with the Edifiers, even at less than half the price theyre just built much better and dont have any of the Klipsch issues. They also dont have the harsh treble that many find fatiguing along with a better low end extension and just have a more stable sound that can be adjusted thanks to the treble/bass knobs. They have an R51pm vs 1850db comparison on the channel too that might help you also, since the 2 are direct upgrades from the 1700bts and R41

Its good to compare different priced products, then you kinda get the idea do you want to save up more money or go with budget.

wow those Fives sound solid and calm at the same time. I'd pick those in a second, much flatter compared to the original. Forget the room sound.

They have a deep bass, unlike the 1700s. But the price is not even in the same range...

As always, thanks for the video and for the good work. Keep it up! Nowadays, this might be one of the very few channels you can trust. You simply listen and it is up to you what to decide, to like... Is it only me or is there any other who think that Klipsch marketing campaign through KZreadrs is brilliant! Very well played with "The Fives". Bravo! Klipsch does not need to pay for advertising these overpriced and overrated speakers, they just have to send their products to KZread channels (that we trust or we did trust) and that is all. I am excluding this channel. Just seeing this comparison gives you the idea that Klipsch is not pushing behind. It is a shame that almost nobody talks about the flaws or weak points of "The Fives". It's terrifying that almost no one talks about how overpriced and overrated these speakers are. That ARC connection seems to be the panacea for audiophile KZreadrs. Everything we always wanted. The single thing we were all dying for. Seriously? It kills me that no one has the balls to seriously propose alternatives, that could be better and even cheaper choices than "The Fives". At least here, you can have your own opinion and somehow, alternatives. The point of this channel is very smart and useful. On the one hand, you can find comparisons of speakers of the same level. On the other hand, this channel wisely compares speakers of different levels, giving rise to big surprises. This time, you can see how "cheap" speakers can deal with well-known and expensive speakers. Is it really worth paying that price difference? This is a sound and frequency response comparison, but in many other Hi-Fi/Audiophile channels no one is talking about what is reasonably priced. The question to the audience: Do you think these speakers are reasonably priced? 899,00 euros In many countries in the EU. I get it, If you are willing to pay for the Klipsch badge (in this case,) that is absolutely respectable, but it doesn't necessarily mean that is worth paying 899,00 euros. Thanks, Digital Sterophony for your videos. I think your channel is a great and unbiased place to have your own opinion. Even when you answer in the comments I have the confidence that you're giving us honesty.

did you try connect a sub to the R1700BTs?

do you have any plans to compare (R1280Ts Vs R1280T) (R1700BTs Vs R1700BT) (R1280Ts Vs R1700BTs) (R1280Ts Vs R1700BT)? is there a significant difference in sound? The edifier R1280T Frequency response 75 Hz-18 KHz, R1700BT 60Hz-20KHz. The R1280Ts and R1700BTs have the same frequency response of 52Hz-20KHz. can that data be my reference when making a purchase?

Getting the Edifiers for my living room set up... Pairing with cheap polk 100w sub. Can just roll off highs a bit, no reason to spend literally 10x more. Solid brr brr boxes : )

@@-MarkWinston- Just amazing! They are pretty boomy with their own bass at noon. So i dial that back to 9oclock, and with a sub at like 20% its amazing.

Klipsch are the winner for sound quality, but given the price, this a way more refined speaker, better and lower bass, mids are more controlled and high not as harsh and more precised than the Edifier. But Edifier R1700BTs wins for price/performance. The Klipsch should be against S2000mkiii or something in that range to be a better fight

I am afraid you cannot compare these 2 pairs of speakers with a large difference in price between them, The Klipsch costs at least twice or three times as much. I think you have burn-in the Klisch, it now sounds quite decent.

I literally just bought mine Edifier 10 minutes ago for 96€ on sale. The Klipsch cost 999€. Their sound is superior, but not 10 times more...

That mountain at 60hz takes the Klipsch into mud territory

He has loudness on which boosts the bass but is only intended for low sound levels. The 5s are great speakers and these videos don't do it justice. I bought them on a whim to temporarily replace ProAc Response D2 monitors which are 3x the price. After a month I sold the proac speakers and my Naim superuniti.

How would the r2000db compare to the r1700? Quite curious the price difference is $70 AUD on sale in Australia.

I have both. The R2000db has deeper bass. However, the R1700 feels more open and airy. If you listen at low volumes, suggest you go for R1700BT. If you have a very large room, go for the 2000DB

If I'm not concerned about how much money I'm spending, the Fives win hands down, but honestly they aren't worth 5 times the price to me.

The klipsch are around $600 and the edifiers are around $150. The klipsch better sound better. But price/value the edifiers beat almost every single speaker out there.

Swan has quality and production issues along with very poor support and warranty handeling. Edi S2000MKIII are great.

Hard to decide. I think I would go for the edifier, their bass sounds a bit stronger.

I currently own the R1700BTs but they're not for me due to the mids/highs just not being where I want them to be. However, Klipsch The Fives should be far better in the bass department than the Edifier R1700BTs. I can tell you the 4" woofer on the R1700BTs is NOT large enough for low end frequencies. You NEED a sub if you want to watch movies and tv shows, even music would appreciate it. The Fives have a 4.5" woofer, so just that there should provide better bass alone due to the driver size. On top of that Klipsch has made the voice coil 1.5" which is larger than most to push it harder giving more bass. It also has a long throw woofer (First time I've heard this term, but I'd assume it allows the driver to be pushed further in and out allowing larger soundwaves in a smaller driver). On top of that The Fives also have far more power given to them. This doesn't mean everything but usually more power means louder, or better lows due to woofers needing lots of power (R1700BTs 15w tweeters 18w woofers, 66w RMS -- The Fives 20w tweeters 60w woofers, 160w RMS). Lastly, just look at the frequency curve Digital Stereophony provides(@ 00:15). If we use 75 dB as a base line the R1700BTs can play down to about 55hz before it gets too quiet for you to reliably hear; The Fives can play down to about 40hz before it gets too quiet for you to reliably hear. Eitherway, The Fives are 5 times more expensive than the R1700BTs. So you need to know what you're using them for before purchasing. Another good comparison is the Edifier S1000MKII. They're $350 but give you a larger woofer of 5.5" getting deeper bass, and the tweeter has been upgraded as well.

@ I am using them in a bedroom thats like 12x12 and near field. Now don't get me wrong, the R1700BTs sounds good... just not great. For the price you're getting a lot. However, booting them up for the first time I was just very underwhelmed. Were they better than the $50 logitech 2.1 speakers I've had since 2005, absolutely. The logitechs did amazing on highs and voices were clear, low frequencys couldn't be beat with tbr 5.25" sub. The R1700BTs however sounded muffled for some reason. Mids were amazing. Lows were there but not enough. The deal breaker was the muffled highs and the hiss when idle. I have purchased the Klipsch the Fives since I commented and have had them for about 2 weeks now. I even just picked up some 6" speaker stands and it made them even better. The horn directs the highs so much better but there is still a sweet spot where the highs are the crispest. The mids seem good. And the lows are great. The fact this whole speaker is very small and can push as hard as a 6" speaker is amazing. It has a sub output like the R1700BTs but has an active crossover of 80hz allowing the speakers focus on mids versus lows. I've tested the speakers with a 6" sub and yes while it is louder its not better. I was going to get a klipsch r100sw while they were on sale but I wasn't sold enough on the sub. I dont watch bluray movies or anything or mega lows in rap, so I won't super benefit from it. But I can tell you the lows are much deeper than the R1700BTs.

If there wasn't such a muddy spot on the lows, the Klipsch win. But when you look at the price and the overall soundstage, the Edifiers walk away with this one too. There is NOT x5 value in those Klipsch.

Believe it, the Fives are so much better. People upgrade £200 speakers to £1000 speakers, it does not mean they are 5 times better, it is always a case of diminishing returns. If you can afford the Fives, you will not regret purchasing , the enjoyment factor over x amount of years is surely worth it

The klipsch is closer to the original, except that it has a little too much bass.

Hi guys! =) Hello from Russia) I choose between Edifier R1280DBs and Edifier R1700BTs, I understand that Edifier R1700BTs should be better in sound, but there is no spdif. Planning to use them with my pc, gigabyte aorus ultra z390 motherboard. Does it make sense to buy R1280DBs just for the sake of spdif? what do you think, which ones are worth taking for the best experience?

Хелло мен. Ай эм тоже фром Раша. Бери Edifier R1855DB, суть та же только с спдифом и коаксиалом. Из минусов, на сантиметр глубже и панель управления не сбоку, а сзади ну и цена еще немного выше. По идее электроника тоже лучше в Edifier R1855DB.

The difference in sound is subtle, the difference in price is huge! I stick with my Edi's...

Edifier wins this one. Sounds closest to the source track. Has better clarity than the Klipsch. I would avoid the 5s. It seems like the 6s are better buy.

You can buy subwoofer with pass through connection. The chain would be then source > sub > speakers.

The Fives make you feel like you're in a concert venue.

Edifier R1700BTs are for PC ,Klipsch are not for that and you need amplifier .Shit comparison.
