    Nice this is really helpfule for not only those who you cant get there hands on a raspberry pi but also for those looking for a cleaner solution by using only "one" board in there printer. I just ordered an orange pi for $40 and was able to order a raspberry pi for just $10 over MSRP. Now I just gotta wait for them to get here so I can compare them. The only thing I dont like about this type of board is that you cant, atleast currently, install your own OS which hoepfully that changes in the future.

    aren’t those small connectors 2mm JST? Same as the connector on the creality stepper motors. I made those when I rebuilt my former ender3 last winter, even used silicon insulated wires. As for the board itself I really don’t understand the point of only putting 4 stepper drivers on it. As far as I am concerned, these days 3d printer boards should come with 5 or 8 stepper drivers. I think it would be cheaper to have 5 drivers on this board than having to design and build an expansion board. Still loved the video and look forward to the next one.

    Been using this board for a bit now in a V0.1 installation (Siboor kit from AliEx came with it) but I have had a recent issue with the latest moonraker update causing issues. I'm no Linux expert so I can't say exactly what goes wrong, thankfully this video guided me on re-installing the FLY-OS so I can get my printer going again. Hopefully someone will be able to figure it out for this board. One helpful note, you can select the Klipper UI by editing the FLY-Config.conf file in the Boot drive, both are preinstalled. ^.^

  • @MidMadn

    @MidMadn

    I was able to update everything right in klipper with just adding a few lines to my moonraker config. It was KIAUH that botched my klipper install previously. Don't use KIAUH with this board.

So far no one has shown any interest in trying this board. I’m 88 y/old so in no way able to undertake trying it without help. This board does look promising, so I’ll wait to see you install it on a printer. And keep hoping some one will try the MP4 -CP1 combo. Thanks for all your helpful videos.

    I wager a guess, the feature may have been requested because other boards particularly Geeetech love blowing up their FAN MOSFET, being some Si230x clone, sot23-6 variety, really tiny and wimpy. Maybe also shorts, inductive kick from fans, these sorts of things. I don't anticipate it being necessarily wimpy here, and it looks like it'll be fine with a variety of 8-pin N-ch. Plugging a TO220 one right instead of the daughterboard isn't going to work unfortunately, it looks like gate is the middle pin, but i can see why they laid theirs out how they did, to make it not matter which way around you plug it in, because they're swapping the two outer pins between sides. Or maybe they just ran out of layout space.

    I love how manufacturers are doing this to help us out with the Pi shortage, but only 4 drivers? I feel that’s a little bit optimistic in todays world. The absolute MINIMUM number of driver ports should be 6, but in reality it should be 6-8. 4 just doesn’t make a lot of sense these days

    make without -j runs single child process. With -j you can compile quicker, by spawning several in parallel. Sometimes you don't want to do that because the stderr output of the compiler processes can get tangled in between each other as they come from different processes, so if you have to read warnings or errors, you're well advised not to use -j. It obviously doesn't make much sense to push more than 4 on this quadcore ARM, nor do you necessarily need to get stingy and run fewer because this board has enough RAM.
