KLIF 1190 Dallas - KLIF Jingle Montage (PAMS, CRC, TM, Futuresonic, Otis Conner) - 1950s-1980
If you know about the history of Top 40 radio, then you know the name Gordon McLendon. McLendon was the owner of 1190 KLIF, and was considered the man who perfected Top 40 radio on KLIF. In 1954, the era when network radio was fading away because of TV, McLendon introduced the Top 40 format to the station and, as a result of this change, KLIF enjoyed dominance of the Dallas radio ratings in the 1950s, 1960s, and into the 1970s. At one point, more than half of the people listening to the radio in Dallas, were listening to KLIF! KLIF had a tight playlist, exciting promotions & contests, and bigger than life DJs. Some of the legendary personalities that worked at KLIF include... Jimmy Rabbitt, Paxton Mills, Michael O'Shea, Dick Heatherton, Chuck Murphy, Ron Chapman, Johnny Dark, Hal Martin, Rod Roddy, Cuzzin Lennie, Brant Miller, John London , Randy Robbins, Russ Knight, Jim O'Brian, Chuck Dunaway, Ken Knox, George Michael , Deano Day, Gary Mack, Jay Lawrence,Gary Owens, and George Singer.
This video features many of the great jingles KLIF used on the air from the 1950s, right up to 1980. They were produced by many of the big jingle makers of the day... PAMS, CRC, TM, Futuresonic, & Otis Conner.
Feel free to check out some of the many other videos on the Ellis B Feaster's Radio Channel! Established in 2008!
One of You Tube's oldest RADIO AIRCHECK MUSEUM with a NEW VIDEO posted daily at 3PM EST.
After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well.
You'll find audio of many radio personalities who have passed away. Lots radio recordings from the 1940s, through the 2010.
We also talk about radio broadcasting. If you happen to have classic airchecks, maybe even of yourself on the air, we'd love to share it here!
We also share videos about Travel & Cruising. I share tips on how I travel cheaply, so you can do it also! Find me on Facebook: / ellisairchecks

KLIF was always on the family car radio in my childhood. Don't forget another legendary personality, Charlie Van Dyke.

I'm a bit curious as to what the deal was the all the "swizzle" references.

"Swiszle" Yeah, it sounds like "swizzle" as in a swizzle stick, those little things they stick in alcoholic drinks to stir it. But "SwiSzle" was a word coined by PAMS founder and Big Boss Bill Meeks. Just something to be fun, different and unique. The idea was that "swiszle" could be whatever you made it out to be. Here is everything you don't really need to know about "Swiszle" - but here it is anyway. This was part of PAMS Series 32, and the package was simply called "Swiszle." According to 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 by Ken R.: "𝑵𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂 '𝒔𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒛𝒍𝒆' 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆, 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒍𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒕.
