  • @noctwice

    No he is not taking home more after taxes. All players have to pay taxes to states where the games are played. So he is paying less on the 41 games played at home but he took a sizable cut from 24 mil down to 15.5 mil. His state taxes on the 41 home games would have cost between $1-$1.5mil. So Klay left $7 mil per year on the table to play in Dallas.

    @@moneyball647 Both these dudes are wrong. Klay's potential contracts are as follows: Dallas: 16.67m per year / 2 (for half games being played at "home" state) = 8.33m - his federal taxes = $5,292,693 GS: 24m per year / 2 (for half games being played at "home" state) = 12m - his federal AND STATES taxes = $6,036,973 He'd be paying an extra $1,567,820 in State income taxes to California, but would keep an extra $744,280 per year on Golden States contract.

  • @donatelloDoesmachines13

    @donatelloDoesmachines13

    Күн бұрын

    @@moneyball647 an easy explanation to the OPs comment is that there is no State Tax in Texas. But that doesnt really matter that much here because these players pay out-of-state-tax in the NBA. To simplify and to not get into math much, what Thompson saves in State Taxes is not really that much when you account for Federal Tax, out-of-state tax, and his actual contract being LOWER than what the Warriors wanted to offer him BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED.

    Klays not washed. He’s just watered down from what he was. 39% from three and 17.9 Ppg is still a very good 3rd option which is what he’ll be for the mavs. His defense isn’t elite anymore since the injuries but it’s still serviceable and the mavs defense is built for the guards to funnel every body into the paint where the bigs can clean up which I’m very sure he’ll heavily benefit from. This is a huge upgrade from the shot chucker THJ and the inconsistent Josh Green.

    It’s crazy to me that a player averaging 18ppg on 39% from 3 is considered washed when that player never averaged 25ppg for a season. It’s not like he was a 28ppg guy who dropped 10ppg. His career avg is like 19.5. His defense has fallen because of injuries but offensively he’s not that far off.

    I respect the heck out of Klay Thompson, but he wasn't holding back, he's washed. There is nothing wrong with that...He had back to back potentially career ending injuries, came back against all odds, and got #4. He's an all-time great, 2nd best shooter to ever live. He's 34...He's old for an NBA player, shoot...he's old for a profesison athlete in any physically demanding sport. I believe in the Bill Walsh theory of "It's better to lose them a year earlythan hold onto them a year late. I hope for him that he finds happiness with the Mavs. He deserves it. What he didn't desrve was the contract he wanted from the Dubs. Farwell for now, Splash Bro, can't wait to see you #11 hanging at Chase. Thank you for 13 years of unbelievable memories.

    If Klay can average 16-18 on 39-40% from 3, the Mavs will kill it next season. Klay is about to get the easiest looks hes had since the Warriors 2015-2019 run

    It's not gonna happen and hasn't since he came back from his injuries. Even in 2022, Andrew Wiggins was playing defense and Jordan Poole was the other splash brother when GSW won the chip in 2022. Thompson is a damaged and gaining player just like CP3 is these days.

    @@awesomecoolguy6515 What are you talking about? He litterally shot 40% from 3 while averaging 19.8 PPG over the last 2 seasons! Even if you only look at last season... 18 PPG on 39% 3P%! Thats all we need, nothing more. Depending on minutes played, even 15 PPG would be more then fine! He just has to be better and more consistent then THJ...not that hard of a task, dont you think? And yes, defensively he isnt what he used to be anymore. I agree. But who knows how he can work in our defensive system. Cause its different from the Warriors. Once more, he just has to be better then THJ, who never was even average defensively in his entire career.

    Klay was playing with one foot out the door the entire season. He wasn't benched b/c of his very up and down shooting (although that didn't help). He was benched b/c of his bad defense and absolutely horrible decision making at the end of games. You could tell each game, before tip off, if he was going to have a bad game just by his demeanor.
