I will never forget the day in 1978 when I listened to this song for the first time. I was blown away and since then I've listened to this genius almost daily.

I saw Klaus Schulze in the early 80s, what you see on this pic is what you glimpse from time to time in concert him in white overhaul sitting on some furs and surrounded by his synthesiser most of us where lying smoking dope and enjoying, not expensive either, very good stuff really 😏🙏

...listening to this in late May 2022 for the first time (with headphones). I didn't know anything about Klaus. What an unexpected treat. Magnificent. Thank You for Posting.

Agreed. "X" and "Mirage" are my favorite Klaus Schulze albums. I also like "Timewind", "Moondawn", "Body Love, Vol. 1", "Body Love, Vol. 2", "... Live ...", "The Historic Edition", and most of the rest, but just not as much as "X" and "Mirage".

I remember that, for years I looked for "someone who may sound like Jarre or Vangelis or even better", then I found KS and over 50 albums that can be considered masterpieces.

I also found him through JMJ and Vangelis, and to me he's the best of the three.

X und Mirage bleiben für mich die allerbesten Alben von KS. Und daran wird sich wohl auch nie was ändern. Trotz der grandionsen Musik die er bis dahin und danach komponiert und gespielt hat.

Believe it or not, I have a cassette of this piece copied back in the mid-1980's. I still listen to it driving to work. At about the 5 minute mark, it becomes trance-like. Still awesome after 30+ years.

Un des plus beaux albums que je possède quatre faces grandioses!!!

Master , Pioneer ,brilliant album.Goodbye Master.

J'ai découvert KS à l'âge de 15 ans environ; avec "X". Depuis j'ai été captivé par les synthétiseurs, et je possède une majeure partie de ses albums... C'est le meilleur pour moi, et sa musique est magnifique (timewind, par exemple)... J'aimais beaucoup JM Jarre, à l'époque, ainsi que Tangerine Dream; et Vangelis. Mais KS reste impressionnant par sa carrière en solo, et par la quantité d'albums qu'il a composé... Sa musique reste d'une richesse et d'une exploration sonore incroyable, et ne me lasse pas de l' écouter. Merci à SPV d'avoir réédité la série "la vie électronique". j'ai pû découvrir ainsi d'autres morceaux...

hello moi aussi j'ai découvert KS à 16 ans avec Blackdance puis Timewind j'a l'ai vu en Concert en 1976 avec GO au palais des sports et 5 ou 6 fois depuis. C'est le maitre incontesté du Synthé je possède tous ces albums dont une bonne partie en vinyle . J'aime aussi TD vu 6 fois en concert dont une fois à Londres et bien sur Vangélis, Jarre, Redshift, RMI chris Frank et Peter Baumann en solo . bonne écoute !

This great work is in my top 5 electronic long-form works, along with some Tangerine Dream. The complex drums later on (12+ minutes) are a real treat.

Discovered this in 1980; Ludwig II Von Bayern still echoes in my mind.

Agreed. I'm thankful that he released a full version (without any truncated tracks) around 2000 or so. In my opinion, it makes the album even better now than the original release was.

And the looping in "Ludwig II von Bayern" were done using long stretches of recording tape (like how Pink Floyd did it during the recording of "Dark Side of the Moon").

I try not to listen to KS too often so it remains fresh and does not become ordinary to me. This piece seems meant to be listened to on a full moon night when low broken clouds are racing across the sky. Ludwig II is for walking in wind driven snow storms. I also suggest checking out Body Love volume 2

Sehr gut !! Ja, man kann nicht immer alles hören.. Alles hat seine Z e i t . . . 🥰🤗 Bei KS geht es mir aber so, daß es tatsächlich BESSER wird, umso öfter ich's höre; auch die meisten Stücke, die ich zuvor nicht so gut fand.. 🥰🥰 Von BODY LOVE gefällt mir aber wirklich nur ' P.T.O. ' RICHTIG GUT. 🤷‍♂️

Hi - can you upload the vinyl version of X - best way of hearing KS. I am a fan of his - have been since 1979 and have found that the recordings from lps to cd just fail to overwhelm me. Side 4 of X is my all time favourite of his and he even managed to play a few chords of it for me at one of his concerts. I thought how kind. Glad to hear to like KS - how long have you been a fan?
