Volker's guitar playing is one thing that makes guitar instructors going nuts. Just look at his strange two and three finger-technique on the fretboard. You won't ever be taught that by anyone, it's simply "autodidactism". And it works perfectly...

To summarize this under 'Krautrock' is ridiculous. This is nearly an Jazzrock-European-All-Star-Band. I can identify Klaus Doldinger (sax), Wolfgang Schmid (bass), Volker Kriegel (lead git), Alexis Korner (rythm git), Curt Cress and Pete York (drums), Jonny Griffin (sax), Brian Auger (organ), Kristian Schultze (keys). Seems to be a filmed at the recording session of the first jubilee album.

Über dem Astra-Bowling an der Hamburger Reeperbahn (abgerissen) gab es ein großes Musikgeschäft, wo Volker Kriegel als Endorser einer Firma einen Nachmittag verbracht hat. It's not Krautrock: though it has one of Krautrock's finest bassists (Lothar Meid) here and saxist Olaf Kubler, both involved in Amon Duul2- seminal Krautband. This is fusion though and a lot like most other bands of this genre from all over the world. Krautrock was a reinvention of German rock starting from scratch and trying to avoid sounding US or UK. This was big part of what put Kraut in a league of its own

+Doug Rea I saw him about 1975 in Düsseldorf, Germany and it was not only his fascinating music but also his (and the bands) attitude. After about 2 1/2 hours of live music they wanted to call it quits but the crowed did not stop clapping their hands. So he said:"OK, we like to play for you some more just give us 10 mins to refresh". And they played another hour after that.
