Kitchen extension start to finish
Ойын-сауық
This is a timelapse video of our kitchen extension project Starting in 2018.
Taken on multiple IP cameras and captured via IPtimelapse software.
It was a massive undertaking for us as we had never done anything like this before and also a few hold ups too out of our control. Eventually it finally came through.
It cost roughly about £35K - £40K (i can't remember exactly) but we did most of build ourselves so it saved us a little bit. We are trades people so most of the fit out was easy for us. The actual structural build was done by builders that we normally work with.
In work days it took 46 days but this was over 9 months due to hold ups out of our control. (building control, Sewer pipes that should have been 3mts further away than were we found them, Gas main pipe through the middle of the property etc).
Each day was filmed and these are broken down into a series in previous videos on my channel.

I bet there's a race for the TV remove control to switch the volume up when any of the appliances are on, or when someone switches the kettle on. Open plan living is a popular choice, but doesn't work for me as I find it noisy and echo's like an airport lounge. But we're all different eh? that's what makes the world go round. Nice build though, and good kitchen lay out.

Great job. Good decision for the suspended timber floor from the original kitchen to be replaced by a concrete slab as per extension. Just interested as planning similar extension- did you install periscope vents for the rest of the property?
@robsands111
3 жыл бұрын
We installed ducts under the slab to vent the remaing wooden floors in the house this maintained an airflow to the outside..
excellent build & kitchen, we are planning such a build this year, how long was it until you got to a water tight stage of the build, i guess the RSJ's were used because of the width..
@robsands111
3 жыл бұрын
This was a project I carried out my self so it took slightly longer than a normal build. I think it was about 2 or 3 weeks before being watertight but we had other delays in hand to deal with too like we found a gas main running through the house that needed to be diverted around the outside and we had to replace the main sewer pipes that we hadn’t accounted for. Good luck with the build I’m sure you will be pleased.
@robsands111
3 жыл бұрын
And the RSJs were due to the span and the middle supporting wall we removed. Also the smaller RSJs were supporting a bay window above.
I would kill for a kitchen like this.
Great

The island as a dining table feels mean compared to the size of the kitchen. There are some beautiful large dining tables that would do that space more justice. If you want a kitchen island as more workspace it has to be built with that function in mind. That said, it is a lovely kitchen.
@robsands111
3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for the comment. The Island does in fact double up as kitchen workspace when needed. The worktops have been changed since this video. We didn’t want to completely use the whole space as kitchen or lounge but adjust when required. Ie entertaining. But it is working for us.
It's not even my house but I'm worried about the electricity bill 🤣 Anyway, it looks amazing

Hi Thanks for the question. The original space was 4m x 5.5m and we extended it another 4.5m x 5.5m. Good luck with your project its well worth it. And out of all the things we have done, the underfloor heating is a god send. Well worth the money.
