Kit Review: Dragon 6303 King Tiger Henschel Turret w/Zimmerit in 1/35

3:25 Instructions
9:33 Parts
When I refer to a rain guard on the cupola what I meant was a channel for rain to run off.
Here is my in-box review of Dragon's 2007 King Tiger kit with molded on Zimmerit. Overall a pretty good kit with slightly dated sprues in certain areas. Lots of goodies in this one though.
Only my second review with the new camera, this time around I was trying out different lights. I will eventually figure out exactly what I'm going to use.

    Another great review Adam......interesting that you mentioned the suspension problem as I had one of their Jagdtigers and installed the arms too low which made the hull sit too low, and I couldn't correct it, so I chucked the kit but kept all the wheels. I think that kit was Dragon's original Jagdtiger kit from 1995 or similar time frame. Those PE parts on the first page are for the "C" clamps on the rear plate. Glad you reviewed a Tiger II as I don't have any. Regards, Paul

    these were good times when i spent my pocket money on this :) it was such an enjoyable built! cool review adam, i never observed the issue you discribed in the end, but i think this was due to the fact that i kept everything tight and built it in one session. this helps more to avoid fitting issues and what not than people acknowledge usually :)

    +Hamilkar Barkas I know exactly what you mean about doing major assemblies together. With a slower drying glue you can correct a lot of fit and other dangers by just correcting things. It is a beauty.

    Adam Mann when i feel like doing it i will make a video pointing that out, if everyone would use revell cement or similar stuff it would not happen that often. tamiya extra thin is convenient, but lures you into those traps.

    Adam Mann exactly adam, that was indeed my thought :) it is THE kit where the most mishaps can happen due to the useage of the wrong type of glue. if all the hull parts don´t come together in one session using a glue that does not dry instantly you are screwed.

    If at all possible, when building older Italeri or Academy kits, use your Dragon spares to enhance it's looks. The parts are quite compatible in many cases. BTW...when you use the PE for the field gear, how does that work? There are already mounts on the parts themselves. Hmmm...? Great review Adam.

    Very good reviews on your channel! They saved me a lot of trouble already. But why only Dragon kits? I would love to see some Trumpeter, Hobby Boss, AFV Club, Tasca and maybe some cheaper kits like Miniart. You would have a bigger subscriber list in no time. Just a wich and a sugestion. Keep up the good work. Now im going back to finnish the paint job on my VK from HB. A good kit by the way. Full turret interior ;)

    Great videos Adam... I've got the Porsche turret version of this kit but I believe it's got DS tracks. Got a quick question for you, are the KT tracks and the Jagdtiger track the same? Also wondering if you know how many links go on the Porsche Jagdtiger from 1995 with the "easy link" Sprue tracks? I'm doing this kit as my first armor kit and the tracks have me a bit nervous... 5 peices per link and all. Thanks again for the great videos bro, these are my go to dragon resource nowadays.

  • @AdamMann3D

    @AdamMann3D

    8 жыл бұрын

    I don't know on the track link count. But yeah the tracks can go Jagdtiger or KT. The thing is the Porsche King Tiger's had a more complicated track. You can use the standard ones on a Porsche Tiger, but technically they have different ones. Tamiya though for instance use the same rubber bands for both.

    +Adam Mann thanks for the knowledge there bud, much appreciated. It might almost be worth dropping some coin for fruils, not sure yet. I've got a set of the DS and a set of magic tracks that I can use but those easy tracks look like glue hell. For my first piece of armor I'm not too into counting rivets anyway. Thanks again Adam, great channel... Keep em coming. 🤘🏼

    +Clayton McClain Possibly, I had a comment on this video suggesting the contents of the Porsche box were not as good. DS tracks and no goodies. I have never built that one so I don't know. It may depend on the time it was boxed.

    Sadly this kit now appears to come with DS tracks. But the new Dragon 6840 (2016) does come with magic tracks. Any thoughts on that kit over this one? I realize this review was done before 6840 came out so that's why I'm asking.

    According to Scale Mates 2004 is the Date for "New Tool" on the Dragon King Tigers with 6208 being the first Henschel one. Are you saying for sure that the hull is from earlier Gunze kits?

  • @AdamMann3D

    @AdamMann3D

    I would bet my hat the suspension is from that old 1995 Jagdtiger because i had them both and compared the sprues myself. Other stuff 2004 is right, except for the half sprue with the Jagdtiger rear hull.

    Great review, I can not agree more with what you say! Quick question: I am in the building process of this very kit ( latest version with color instructions etc.) and cannot figure out how to fit the side skirts. There seems to have to be a part between the skirts and the hull, it looks like that, but cannot find anything. The instructions are very vague. Any advise?

    In last December, I bought a same kit as your from my local hobby store for a 62 dollars. After I watched this video a whole, I aware that I have same your kit but received in little difference than your kit are pair of DS rudder tracks (suck), fewer PE parts (grills only), no ammo, no metal tow hooks, and only a metal tow cable left. And I understand that it is omitted between early and later releases so I am mad. Dragon is replacing all Magic tracks with DS tracks. My kit number is 6303-03....so what is your? You are so lucky!

    +Cutwoodnow You can't tell one from another because even the UPC is the same. You have to look on the bottom to see which version it is. I have one of each and it pisses me off when people list them on ebay without showing the bottom of the box. It will have pictures of the ds tracks or the magic tracks. The one with the magic tracks picture comes with a lot more stuff.
