I feel you, but a few months ago at the age of 40 I decided to pick my guitar back up and learn the shit I wanted to, Ive been working on the main solo to One for about 3.5 months now, I've 95% nailed it, just need to clean up some sections. It's attainable! chip away at it, go after the skills you will need to conquer a solo and just get it under your fingers even if it is at a slow speed!
My favorite thing about Kirk's solos are how he goes faster and faster and then eventually ends it in a whammy bar jig that sounds like the guitar can't take anymore and it's choking out!

Such an Iconic sound
Kirk gets so much hate but by far this is his best solo, it has everything you could love, played cleanly MINUS THE INFAMOUS VIBRATO. sloppy and soulful are a matter of measurement. if you're too sloppy you're a bad player, if you're too clean you're boring and soulless. all the great players have just the right amount of sloppyness and noise coming out of their playing.
It's so fucking sad and embarrassing how many people treat Kirk with shit due to jealousy. Literally digging the ends of the earth just to find a way to criticize him instead of just praising or atleast accepting Kirk's playing style.
