What I love most about this game is the Visual Story Telling. No spoken dialogue, and no dialogue boxes or narration. It’s all expressive. It’s always nice seeing this game played, as it’s the first Kirby game I ever played.

Such a happy and adorable game, that also featured a ruined and abandoned Earth, and demonic horrors as the final boss.

​@@AstragaiosCaelum the one episode that sticks out to me is when an angel traps Shinji in an alternate dimension. There's a time limit on how long he can breathe in his capsule. After some time has passed he starts to smell his own blood in his containment liquid as it starts to foul with him being in it too long.

Between the bosses, music, and power combos, this is unquestionably one of the best Kirby Games of all time. If only those Crystal Shards weren’t a pain to track down.

I used to play this game the days I stayed home from school because my anxiety was so bad. It would calm me down. There is something about this game that relaxes the soul.

This brings back a lot of memories. Back when we had the 64 my brother rented this game from Blockbuster. It was the first Kirby game I was ever exposed to. I played a little bit, though not as much as he did. My sisters and I would always watch him play and make funny commentaries about what we’d see.

My favorite part of Kirby 64 was when he wielded a giant flaming claymore and deleted everything in his path

This might just be the best thing ever rented. The simplicity of this game is genius. I think this game is art as an experience. There hasn't been a kirby game like this they really nailed the movie set-like sense of wonder.

The adventures of a cutesy, matter absorbing demigod and his friends. Gotta love Kirby's determination in his eyes when he marches forward.

It gives me a great sense of unease to know that the earth is a frozen, uninhabited apocalyptic wasteland in the Kirby universe

At least one source connected to the developer said that the planet’s inhabitants evacuated before the freeze-over was complete, leaving their cities intact and their machines running. Those automatic factories were left on, spending hundreds of years manufacturing products for a consumer base that no longer exists. Slowly failing maintenance protocols are preserving advanced cities that will never be inhabited again. HR-E/HR-H is following a programming directive that no longer serves any actual purpose. It attacks Kirby in order to protect a population that isn’t there anymore. Nobody alive today has even the slightest knowledge of who or what the planet’s inhabitants were, or what drove them to abandon it and everything they’d built on it.

If it eases your unease, in literally the game before this one Samus from Metroid shows up and you canonically have to engage with her for the true ending, and in Metroid the Earth is definitely still in use. Maybe they evacuated the planet when Dark Matter attacked.

This game is a masterpiece side scroller. I'd say it's the best side scroller on the N64, that's for sure. Music is amazing, controls are crisp. Gawd this game is so much fun.

Out of all the Kirby Games this is still my most favorite.

I always liked this game and Squeak Squad because of the power up combinations, but this one was always cooler because it gave unique power ups.

The music and amazing powers were amazing. It was the first Kirby game I played.

The visuals are so good. Amazing.

I really miss the being able to combine power abilities together.

It honestly surprises me how no one has talked about how good the video looks Really clever to cut the HUD and put it on the top left corner, lets you appreciate the game in this high quality resolution more!

The intro is unapologetically cute

God this game has so many damn familiar sounds that i have heard in nearly 20 years! Brings back memories especially seeing some things i forgot you could do. This is the most nostalgic game from my childhood next to Grand Theft Auto 3

most of realistic games on N64 had aged horribly except two Zelda games because muddy texture and roughly model. Cartoonish style or cel-shading had aged very well and nice visually-looking: Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Mario 64, Banjo Tooei

I hope they bring this unique gimmick back for a future game.

The first level of Ripple Star is a reskin of the very first level of Pop Star/the game, even right down to the placement of the shards. There are also fewer levels total than most Kirby games. I assume the developers were running out of time to get this out the door with the GameCube being on the horizon at the time.
