On the second day of my trip to Cyprus, I went to the Troodos region. The Troodos Mountains are the largest mountain range in Cyprus, stretching from the center of the island to most of the western part of the island. The highest peak is Mount Olympus, which is 1,951 meters above sea level. The Troodos Painted Cathedrals, which includes nine churches and one monastery, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beautiful frescoes in the Byzantine art style, developed in the Byzantine Empire from the 5th to the 15th centuries, remain in excellent condition.
