Kingsong S18 Suspension Test

Ғылым және технология

A closer look at the suspension of the KS-S18 electric unicycle... What better way to test them than to ride down some really long stairs?

We love it too! For those curious about the suspension here is a bit more about our suspension: Using a Variable Linkage dampening air suspension system using 200-57 suspension 1.X shaped suspension with a travel of 100mm. 2. The suspension is interchangeable and allows for personal modification and custom ride style. 3. Adjustable air suspension system from on to off. Off-state still reacts to big bumps but will ride similar to a wheel without suspension. 4.Rotary switch for sensitivity adjustment. 5. The pressurization can be adjusted according to rider weight.

@@misspusen Are you joking? The idea to add the suspension was self-evident, but implementations are difficult. Gotway released a unicycle with spring suspension long ago, but that early experiment was not very successful (only the pedals were suspended). Inmotion's implementation is higher quality, but again only the pedals are suspended, so I am a bit sceptical. Kingsong's implementation is different and more sophisticated, the whole body moves up and down, which reduces the unsprung mass, so has a chance to work better.

@@KingsongIntellCoLtd It's great that you prioritize safety but can you please make your aggressive tilt back less aggresive like Gotway does with their MSX? Also 30 mph more or less ok for a top speed but again please make the tilt back less aggressive, when riding near 30 mph the tilt back is actually dangerous especially if it's jarring and it can mess up your balance at that speed if done to quickly. Anyway please please please make the tiltback nice and smooth how Gotway has on the MSX, it's such a wonderfully well done tilt back.

That under pedal camera shot was as steady as taking the stairs fast on ones own two feet! And the pole dodge in the beginning was a great show of its nimbleness for such a large wheel. I saw a guy who rode dirt bikes in the desert show me his working euc shock prototype by driving over a 4x4 board of wood without losing pedal contact. This looks simpler and a pothole test would be invaluable. Kingsong has the most varied and exciting designs and I am so glad this is no exception. Wahoo!

I hope someone makes a teardown and check the quality of the motor cable as the wheel is moving vs the battery/controller unit and with constant cable movement like this it requires SPECIAL cables made for that kind of constant movement (we use those at work and they are for sure more expensive). If they saved money on not using a special cables this could be a "killer". @kuji rolls did you check it?

The wire is a thick wire that runs from the motor to above the internal fender. From there, the cable runs to the electronics located underneath the handle. Not sure I want to ride a wheel that makes a clanking noise every good bump I transition. Only time will tell when we get some real reviews done. Right off the top with the low WH battery I decided not to get this. With the low WH It is not a range wheel so someone like me at 200lbs will not want this wheel if you looking for better range as well IMHO. I am looking to upgrade from a 960 WH battery so this will not do for me, a very lite rider it might be perfect, say riders in the 140lb area. I wish KS good success with this wheel. Cheers

The shock absorber is inmotions invention. They just made inmotion V11 public last week. And that inmotion wheel is not only better than the copy, but it has SO many other features too. Check out inmotion V11. 😊

Straight legs going down steps💪😳 impressive. But we couldn't listen to the unpleasant banging sounds when it goes down steps 🤷‍♂️. People gotta know about that clanking sound if it's not getting removed. Thanks for the video

Yes. I am a little concerned about that after hearing Kingsong's short video withe clanging. Hopefully that's just some loose pieces in an early prototype?

Any way to assess the climbing capability? They claim 40 degrees and 265 lbs. How long before overheating?

  • @KujiRolls

40 degrees or grade? I think 40 actual degrees + a 265 lb rider would be at the very limit of what the torque it could handle at 1mph before it cut out. It would overheat very quickly. 40 grade and 265lbs and maybe it could last a few minutes at speed.

@@NikolayD60 да, если он будет без косяков, то цена приемлемая. Но первые 2 версии 18л имели серьёзные косяки, так что есть вероятность...
