I’m so thankful for this video! I still have 4 albums by y’all! But I also have a great memory that I’ll never forget and that was I believe back in the 1980’s or 1990’s I had the honor and privilege to see you in person in Wilson North Carolina at the tobacco market. And if I recall correctly Anthony Burger had just recently started to play the piano with the group and he was only 16 and did he forever do a wonderful job playing! And of course I enjoyed the entire group and I will never forget that!!! Also I had just recently accepted JESUS CHRIST as my LORD AND SAVIOR so now I remember that it was in the 1980’s! I thank you for your Ministry and your Music will be remembered forever!!!

Well, as a older fan of Southern Gospel music, I have to cast my vote for the best lineup of the Kingsmen. That would be from 1973 when it was Big Jim Hamill, Johnny Parrack, Ray Reese and Eldridge Fox and Nick Bruno on piano. Go listen to Big and LIve from that year, recorded in Gadsen, AL. Maybe the greatest live gospel album ever.

With all due respect..while you did not enjoy his presentation of the song, he did no ruin it. Many people were blessed by it..I may love a Ford..you may love a Chevy..NEITHER OF US ARE WRONG IF OUR CAR GETS US SAFELY TO WHERE WE NEED TO GO!! Different styles of music brings those with different likes to JESUS!! AND THAT IS WHAT COUNTS!! Pray for that..and don't be so judgemental. :) ❤

to Ronald Shank, Ernie Phillips was known as The Little Giant. He is still a fine tenor, as is Johnny Parrack, so closely blessed with talent it is difficult to close a favorite. The young man in this video is Chris Collins, and is a life time member of the Grand ol' Opry. and a great talent in his own right.

As long as the song being sung is supporting Gospel messages , It is in no way fake . A fake gospel would be about a fake religion , other than about Christ's salvation and words of edification .

Blink and you would've missed his around one year stint. This was about as spastic as the group's direction ever. They had lost their big personalities. They had lost the backbone of their band in Anthony Burger. Their tenor was not a fit for their sound. And then there's Randy Miller, who was and is a great musician but when he got a solo it didn't fit for me. This was a very awkward look and sound for The Kingsmen. Flash forward four years and the additions of Jason Selph (who at that point was doing Tim Surrett better than Tim did himself vocally at that time) and Jerry Martin really made their sound as good vocally as it had been in at least a decade. Too bad the name change and all that it entailed derailed them for a few years.

@@yepyepuhhuhuhhuh3999 I've gotta agree with you totally! Tim Lovelace was definitely a misfit for the Kingsmen Quartet. Anthony Burger was a gem!!! 10, count 'em, TEN STRAIGHT YEARS of being the favorite gospel musician!!! The Kingsmen Quartet must've missed him dearly when he left in the mid 1990s. Then, there's this guy playing guitar in this video...he just doesn't fit! He's a great guitarist and vocalist, but he's a mismatch for the Kingsmen. The Tenor, Chris Collins, can sing, but, if I'd of been Eldridge Fox, I'd of looked elsewhere for another Tenor. As far as I'm concerned, though, Tim Lovelace was a horrible choice for the Kingsmen. Nice guy, and funny, too, but he just didn't belong. I can only guess, though, that Eldridge Fox just didn't have too many choices. Oh, well...it is what it is. To wrap this text up-You're right. This period in this group's history was definitely spastic!

Tenors for the Kingston from 1971-1996. Johnny Partake-my vote is yes. He was the best that they ever had. He was with them from 1971-1977. Ernie Phillips? A bit on the thready side, but also an excellent tenor. He was the highest tenor that they ever had. I vote yes on ol' Ernie, a.k.a. the little giant. Garry Sheppard? I guess a yes vote will do here. I almost forgot-Ernie was with the Kingston from 1977-1983. Garry Sheppard was with the Kingston from 1984-1993. The tenor in this video? I don't know much about him, but, upon hearing him attempt to sing tenor...well, he seems to have a problem with singing the higher notes in the tenor spectrum. Give me Johnny Partake,or at least Ernie hillips any day!
