i didnt watch the first three films when i watched Kingdom (im sorry). that being said i love the subtle mythology of Caesar - while I didn't necessarily interpret it religiously, the idea of the legend of Caesar revealed by a devoted follower Raka preserving the written works of Caesar through books is so sick. not to mention how Raka described books, as an ancient - yet powerful - method of storing ideas through the use of symbols. that description puts reading and books into perspective for me; in the age of social media and the "attention economy" that is the internet, i think we take books for granted. i mean...imagine if you were an ape during the time of kingdom of the planet of the apes, and you somehow got connected with Raka, or someone else who can teach you how to read. and you read some of Caesar's legendary works. needless to say Raka had a profound effect on Noa, despite him not reading his works yet, only through learning of some history of Caesar from Raka and also from Proximus, who actually co-opted Caesar's message of solidarity, peace, and liberation - for Proximus's campaign of imperialism. Noa resonated with Caesar's mission - his legend persists through many generations. all that being said, i loved this movie and so I binged Rise, Dawn & War within the next few days.

Well said. I'm really glad that you were able to love this movie without experiencing the previous ones and then go back to watch them (Thank you for fixing that lol) I need to give it a rewatch as I really think Kingdom will age gracefully. As much as I adore the previous trilogy I do hope they have the legend of Caesar limited enough and continue to build on this story.

@@Rizzakins i'm glad too! i plan to put my nephews on to these 4 films, theyre just incredible in their story telling and character struggles. In a minor point, when Noa gave May Raka's window symbol necklace, i was frustrated he would give such a relic away, since to me it's clear May did not trust the apes. Since towards the end when she was meeting Noa, she was holding her gun behind her back. Maybe it makes some sense in her perspective, since she unleashed the flood. regardless, giving the necklace serves as a peaceful gesture, showing Noa's growth. and I agree, Noa's story definitely stands on its own and i'm excited to see how he progresses. well, i enjoyed your video! you give a refreshing commentary on the important elements of the story, pacing, and characters while not spoiling, and still being concise in how you present it. i'm subscribed :)

@@blinkbubs3994 The ending is exactly what I'm most excited about this new trilogy, Mae subtly proving proximas right (and who can balme her for holding that gun behind her back) but with Noa's compassion it could hopefully give valuble insight. It's all about being the better Man, Ape or being in this case. Thank you so much! I'm not the greatest when it comes to analysing stuff to a super deep level (that's why I call it an uneducated opinion), but when consuming all types of media I try and think about what specific aspects of them I like/dislike. Nothing is perfect but that's a good thing 🙂
