I wasn't but I just started playing after how many years 2002? 18 years later, will buy melody of memories on my switch. Playing kingdom hearts 1.5+2.5 remix on my ps4pro at the moment.

I like how it shows Sora exploring Disney castle but Square was like nah let's save that for KH2.

What I like about KH1 is that there was so much mystery and mysticism. So many things like the Keyblade, Heartless, darkness and Kingdom Hearts itself were seemingly beyond understanding, almost like playing a mythical tale from a distant world. Now everything can be summed up to either hearts, light or darkness but damn if I don't love this franchise.

2001 in the world of Hercules. Fates: "In 18 years precisely / The planets will align ever so nicely. The time to act will be at hand / Unleash the Titans, your monstrous band. Then the once-proud Zeus will finally fall / And you, Hades, will rule all! A word of caution to this tale…Should Hercules fight, you will fail." 18 years later- Kingdom hearts 3 (2019) IT WAS FORETOLD!!!! O_O

HERE AFTER THE KINGDOM HEARTS 4 ANNOUNCEMENT, OUR BOY'S ALL GROWN UP NOW :')

You know this was reccomended to a lot of people when all the comments were a couple of hours ago edit: thanks for the likes ^^ KH1 is prob not my favorite KH game but the story, albeit mediocre, is deeper than you might imagine. I feel like the story of KH1 is a story of growing up. Sora, Riku, and Kairi wanted to get on a raft and sail the many worlds that await them. Kids always want to explore, figure stuff out that intrigues them. While Sora is separated from his aforementioned friends, he teams up with Donald and Goofy. Although they had a rocky relationship at the start, Sora started to warm up to the two, to the point Sora would prioritize the two over his old two friends. This could imply that even after separating from some of your friends, there will always be new friends to interact with. At the end of the game, we have the 3 island friends, despite the many backflips they had to do just to get a glimpse of each other, separate with smiles on their faces knowing they would reunite eventually, like saying everything is gonna be okay. And looking back at the lyrics of Simple and Clean, it holds more weight to my story theory thing. Thanks for all who read this lame comment, just wanna let people know how I felt about KH1. not the best gameplay and the characters are lackluster compared to other games in the series, but the story is just a little deeper than you remember :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

@@soul6733 Yeah pretty much he might've planned as far as Kingdom hearts 2 but Nomura has a rule of cool approach to story telling. Introducing some element he finds really interesting and then pieces it together later. For the most part he does it pretty well and makes it all flow together, so how much someone enjoys the story really comes down to whether they can handle it being told that way.

"That's right, Sora Your body, your soul, your whole existence... they're all going to disappear!" To think this was Sora's destiny 17 years later

My grandma and grandpa had Kingdom Hearts 1 and a ps2 at home, best sleep over ive ever had tbh playing that game as a kid. I literally begged her to lend me the game and she gave it to me to keep it. One of the best days ever lol. Now i have a oblivion keyblade tattoo to cherish those sweet childhood kh memories.

I literally just got into kingdom hearts this year and wasn't even born when the first game came out yet I STILL feel old somehow- still great how far this series has come!!!

The first time I played Kingdom Hearts was at a sleepover when I was a kid. I was so taken with the game that when I got home from the sleepover I went to my little brother and told him to drop everything because we had to get our grandma to buy this new game

It's 25th December 2002, I'm 11 years old. I've just opened Kingdom Hearts for the PS2, very intrigued by the concept of a Disney x FF game, unaware yet how much of a profound impact this franchise would have on my entire life. Looking back on the first trailers for this game really make me think how much this game meant to me growing up - some of my most poignant memories are of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and it's hard to believe that I was only eleven years old when I first discovered the series, it doesn't feel that old.

Aw back when everyone was so young..I remember playing this game as a kid and to this day it's still my favorite series. Now my boys Sora and Riku are all grown up and so am I.

You know, I was sort of just given these games to play when I was little and didn’t know how to use the internet and such. I never even suspected that there was a trailer for this until I saw it today. We’ve come a REALLY long way, haven’t we?

every trailer nomura has ever directed is structured identically. lol i will never get tired of his tropes. -someones back is turned, they're raising their hands -X character is running towards Y character who is slowly turning around -montage of moments leading up to climax -ends on cliffhanger

Oh I had seen this before coincidentally about a year ago when I was marathoning through the series in anticipation for Kingdom Hearts 3. Still interesting to speculate how different this game was at the point of when they made this trailer.

It's always so interesting to see cut content from games. Some of it looks interesting enough that it would have been cool to see it in the final version.

I may have jumped off the Kingdom Hearts boat years ago, but I still have so, SO much love and nostalgia for the original game. Good times.

I vividly remember this. I remember telling my dad it was really weird because they played the commercial on disney channel (at the time, disney only played commercials and snippits of their own programs on disney, nothing else). He went out and bought it for me without me knowing when it came out. Hard to believe this is like 20 years ago.

Well well well. I never saw a trailer for this game. I only got it for Christmas 2004. Very happy to know if I saw this trailer I would've been just as excited.
