@@acryl3626 Well I don't believe Mickey was self-taught, same with Kairi and Lea to an extent as they all had Yen Sid has instructors (though Mickey was very much taught directly by him. Kairi had a little bit of experience during the end of KH2 and Lea had a lot of battle experience via being Axel)

Its hard to tell how much he pulled from Sora in terms of fighting styles and Xion is equally iffy cus throughout the game theres this invisible tug of war of power between Xion and Roxas so I honestly don't know if that also constitutes fighting prowess as well. You might even be right there as well, Roxas learning how to fight in self defence and later actual fighting experience from his missions with the Organisation.

People my criticize reaction commands for being a "press triangle to win" scenario but these command made this game even cooler than it already is

Honestly, if you needed triangle just to win you were a scrub. These provided flare. Nothing more, nothing less. And some of them were mini games for the enemy to avoid losing or damage.

Because it WAS. Yen Sid outright said that he and Riku are some of the best Keybearers despite having no teachers. The only reason they had to reset themselves in DDD was because of the Mark of Mastery specifics he was going for

@@raheemaslam7363 yeah, not necessarily a downgrade though. In fantasy a lot of "improvise" fighters are prone to be on the backfoot until they find an opening or figure out some trick. It's probably why Sora often ginds himself in situations where he is just straight overpowered and knocked aside or helpless before suddenly turning it around. Prim and proper gets predictable but at least you aren't constantly getting knocked around by low skilled jobbers. You can't be an old tree than can get knocked down by one bad storm or a sprout that get uprooted. A sapling, a strong base but still flexible is needed

The KH2 reaction commands just added so much style and personality to Sora's fighting. I get why they aren't in the later games but it's just one of the small things that really makes me love KH2

It’s a shame that they got rid of reaction commands in KH3 tbh. They added a super fun and flashy flair to boss battles that made them engaging.

A shame KH3 didn't have reaction commands again, I enjoyed the hell out of them. They just made everything more spectacular. My two favourite reaction commands are Twilight Thorn and beating Luxord with his own cards....Sora is a master gambler.....lol

His remind base combos I feel are on par with the kh2 ones, just different. Almost all of his past finishers, and a good chunk of combo modifiers have been carried over, though some in transformations. Only one that hadn't is that one gravity attack in kh1. And you have a lot of control with mixing things up. But im also biased to his combos in 3 perhaps because Storm flag is just the coolest damn transformation

That's just nostalgia and bias tbh. He's just less flashy and more straight forward in 3. He is definitely beyond kh2 skillset by the end. He goes through the gauntlet and fights xehanort afterwards. Kh3 is his prime so far.

I swear that RC Finish again at Storm Rider is the most stylish out of them all... Like Sora *KNEW* he did some savage shit.

Really hope next KH games bring these back. Made every battle feel unique in some way and made Sora look like a really smart fighter.

Can I just say, I have played KH2 for roughly 14 years, and have played the game in so many ways, yet I have the room to safely ask WHAT WAS THAT 4:19 I have literally, never in my life, seen that Reaction Command. I'm genuinely shocked and happy there's still things I don't know about one of my favorite games.

personally I love that Reaction Command way better than the one that actually does damage to him it looks cool taking his blade from him and throwing it at him

Reaction command finishes always gave me chills

You know, after seeing this and even experiencing the Reaction Commands from since when I first played this on the PS2, this is basically the reason Yakuza is very appealing to me. Reaction Commands and Heat Actions are cool.

Got that first one on a playthrough by sheer chance, felt so badass.

I remember as child when I first got to xemnas laser bombardment I would always press the reaction command but sora's hp would go down to 1, it took me a while to realize I could press x too, they played me like a damn fiddle

I love that the Twilight Thorn just breaks it's fucking neck.

I love how you don't really need to use the reaction commands to finish most of the bosses, but you can style on them with these reaction commands.

I made it my mission to finish as many bosses as I could with the action commands.

Does anybody remember when the KH fandom wasn't just a dick measuring contest on whether the combat of KH2 or KH3 was better, and just enjoyed the games they liked and respected people who had opinions they didn't agree with? I love both games but every comment here makes me feel like I should be taking a side in a pointless debate.

I have no real hate towards KH3 whatsoever, however KH2FM reaction commands (no matter how gimmicked they felt) were undeniably saucy and gave you a sense of style & accomplishment whenever you pulled them off either in just the right way or as a finisher.

What keyblade wouls hurt the most when hit by it. One keyblade where it hits on the back part and then one for the front part. Like the Olympian one would hurt to be hit by from the front cause of the spikes

Those scenes are so satisfying

I LOVE Kh2s finishing cuts,like they were never the same after this game,the slow mo finish was never as good in the following games,the fade out was quick and not as satisfying

Can we just acknowledge how cool the animations are for a lot of these? Like, dang man, it's hard to believe this isn't the game we got last year and KH3 was the one we got back in 2005, this stuff is just so fluid and there are so many little touches here that bring them up especially this one here 1:22 notice how sora just swings around the pillar and on the first revolution kicks the keyblade back up to keep it from falling, snatches it on the second one and proceeds to throw all that momentum into the attack? I miss this so so much and it invokes far more feeling than just throwing a bunch of effects on an attack and calling it a day like they do now.

Yeah kh2 is the best kh game and this little details are definetely part of the reason
