Your favorite metal band’s favorite metal band. No fakery. No pre-recorded backing tracks, vocal pitch correction, midi-triggered synth pads, nothing but talent and edgy, courageous musicianship. It is hard to overstate how incredible this band is.

They're incredible, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska is like proto-grunge and alot of those bands in that scene borrowed alot of tricks from that one.
I still can't believe this band didn't sell 432,640,171,440,330,450,202 albums. Oh well, doesn't make them any less awesome. That bass, that guitar sound, those beats, those vocals? Damn.

I recorded this on VHS back in the days. "Rockpalast" was THE program for the real music loving fans in Germany. You can tell they know how to do a proper mix. Just look at the adjustments during the first song - perfect! And the director/editor certainly knew the songs. Perfect camera work - they change cameras wherever you would look, too.

Sick as fuck. Seen these guys quite a few times, every tour since Gretchen, and have never seen the boys on a stage this big, where they actually always belonged.
Nice guys.. They wandered outside the Lonestar in KCMO to thank those of us which showed up so early. Shook all of our hands. April 28, 1994. We sat with Tracy Wilde

Michael Curtis every concert after his very first is gonna be all downhill from his initial experience! Not hating by any means, quite the contrary actually! Just speaking from my own experience with Kings X! I saw them like 10 yrs ago and I've yet to have that life changing magic again to date! And I saw them at a small venue, about a full capacity of around 300 I'd say, so it was by far the best way to see them or any other band, because it's up close and so wonderfully personal! I have NEVER heard such sonic perfection before or to this very day, and I expect I never will again! I'm a musician myself and I've never had a band pull me in and take me on a musical ride like that in my life! I literally could not pick my jaw up off the floor the whole night! Amazing! I see this was quite a while back, so I hope the young man enjoyed it as much as these guys are so very capable of pulling him into that soul satisfying experience that is Kings X!

At this point dUg was using Mesa Dual Rectifiers for his high gain. Signal was split. Lows went directly to the Ampeg bass amps and the highs went through the Mesas. Then recombined before hitting the cabs. A few years after this I talked to him about his setup after a gig in Seattle. Today you can get this tone all day of the week with a Darkglass X7 pedal. It reproduces his tone better than his own signature pedal from Tech 21. I have both.

Got to meet a lot of really cool people around the world. Damn... 25 years ago. Maybe some of y'all remember me as Splat. If we met, thanks for being cool to me. This one time just before encore I ran backstage to take a piss, usually it took them at least 5 mins to come back so I thought I had plenty of time. When I got back the drum tech said where the hell did you go DuG's bass didn't work and he smashed it. I thought, well I'm fired... I said to DuG after the show I'm sorry I had to pee really bad and usually y'all take a while. He said "It's OK I didn't like that bass and I've always wanted to smash one."
