King Receives Famous Sycamore Gap Tree Seedlings Months after Felling

King Charles has been given the first seedling grown from the famous
Sycamore Gap tree after it was
illegally felled.
The tree had stood next to Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland for around 200 years, but was cut down in September 2023, in an act of vandalism.
Once the seedling has matured into a sapling, it will be planted in Windsor Great Park for visitors to enjoy.

I can't actually imagine how broken the person must be to attack a tree like that! Out of the way, no building going on, part of history, part of the landscape, never mind that there must be winds going through a gap like that, so the tree's very existence was more of a miracle than normal. Well, the "offspring" is going to the very best "father" for trees.

I do not understand the minds of the vandals who destroyed the tree. Why do people hate beautiful things? I'm not sure that I'd wish for the seeds of the sycamore to scatter far and wide. Where I live, there are about a dozen sycamore, all self set. They grow like weeds, and I've always said that if the area had to be abandoned, it would take little time before it became a forest of sycamore with few signs humans had once been there.

And indeed the cutting of the rain forest began by someone saying. "Its only one tree" A sorry attitude really. If everyone looked after just one tree our climate would become a healthy place to be. It takes just one action to set a trend.

@@tobehonest7541 It shouldn't matter if it is the Royal Family or not. If every individual in this world took a little responsibility and made just one single gesture to help the natural world the sooner the planet would be cured then we could all make you happy, as non of us would have go around talking about it as the problem would be solved.

King Charles is so friendly and warm compared to old Lizzy. Great improvement. Old Lizzy should have retired years ago but she was too selfish and self centred. She had long passed her sell by date. At least 25 years ago. Old people can be so entitled and self centred. God save the King.
