what do you mean george barris built james deans porsche? all he did was put the numbers on it and some sign writting,ienjoy all the barris built cars but it really was georges brother sam that built the cars and george got all the recognition

Jims Porsche was not built by Barris.. I remember a story about one of George's painters doing the "Lil Bastard" lettering.. a far cry from 'building'. Non the less, he was quite the creator. Now in 2021, the shop is closed and soon will be sold. The landmark will be scraped away into the realm of dusty memories.

It all depends on how you define the words " built ". Some of the cars they had later that were originally built by someone else...let's say the Green Hornet Black Beauty, Barris custom did modify by adding gadgets etc to make it more interesting to show.. So technically/ loosely he did build it to to how it looks now..modified or modify would naturally be a betrer term of words.. Some of the original Barris cars like the El Capitola were sold and modified by other people but people know whom originally built them and that goes for all the custom cars out there.

@@paulreichelt1259sorry, but adding promo wheels and tires and having Bob Bond pinstripe the windows of the BB Chrysler didn't 'make it a different car', it just made it look like crap. I knew George on a regular basis for over a decade, saw numerous instances of his taking advantage of people unnecessarily, myself included. He was a kidhood hero, as was Jeffries, but Dean was a better human being.
