i am a calypso fan from Wales and visited Trini twice...the locals were so amazed and proud that i had traveled so far to pay homage to their culture and i received only a good reception where ever i went,including jouvert morning fete in st.james.

I'm from Nigeria, right now in Bonny Island. I'm a very very good fan of Mighty Sparrow, I love all his calyso musics and his gospelypso. Grand master Lord Kitchener and Lord Blakie are also my favourites. For sure this guys are the king of calypso and they will live forever because you can"t get anybody close to comparing to them. My greatsest wish is to meet them all in person some day. Long life you all.

I was seven and just left Trinidad so this shows me what it was like! :-D

Todays artists can learn a lot from these guys....the guys performed not just talk. Another thing i wondered is why wasn't Calypso Rose add to the line up she is right up there with these greats.

A superb show highlighted by the presence of a quantum of performers of great stature. Everyone gave a remarkable account of themselves. This is wonderful. Nice to have this encore after so many years.

The performance on this Video way back in 1985 was the influences for tourism and a safe friendly Trinidad & Tobago for the world to see. That,s the T&T I left behind in 1970 and did not ever returned. Regretful I may be, Has T&T retain its friendly and socially integrated cultural atmosphere now, in comparison to way back then? I wondered! I am absorbed into listening to the songs, seeing the audience and the location and feeling the rhythm of T&T. This is a great audio visual visit.

La musica calypso (calipso in italiano) è un genere musicale che appartiene alla cultura afroamericana delle isole dei Caraibi. Questo genere nasce a Trinidad agli inizi del '900. Si ritiene che le sue origini vadano ricercate nei metodi di comunicazione usati tra gli schiavi nelle piantagioni. Successivamente all'importazione, da parte dei francesi, del Carnevale nell'isola, il Calypso venne utilizzato come elemento folcloristico e così aumentò la sua popolarità, che esplose dopo l'abolizione della schiavitù nel 1834. Listening it feels as only yesterday i was in the groove listening to these talented Artists , It has the spirits to make anyone laugh, be happy ,feel good and cheerful.It is 3AM in the UK and I feel that I am in Trinidad Enjoying my youth It feel as real and alive for me now and I love it.

I was present, and sat immediately behind the judges. Watch me walking to the dressing room after Duke left the stage. Good show, but the PA system was crap. Calypsoians were straining their voice to reach those in the stands.
