This is one of my favorite scenes of all time. The music completes it. Instead of having typical horror movie striking or plucking strings, there is a initially beautiful choral piece almost like a angelic choir that slowly becomes more and more dissonant until the men’s voices join, in connection to the crews realization of the danger they’re in. Additionally, the stripped back piece here really accentuates the acting in the movie, emphasizing the actions and expressions of the characters, in particular Denham, who’s sole love and infatuation is destroyed, and we see him let loose all his rage (and if you watch the deluxe edition, he mentally breaks, quite literally loses the sanity he still had,) and fight not for his life, but in pure anger and spite in grief against an innumerable, unconquerable force. Such futility and I swear I see enjoyment in Carl’s face. I won’t go over each character, but each level of depth can be seen in each of them, as they all lost someone close. This was a lot, but man, this whole movie is chef’s kiss.

Couldn't agree more. Alot of people say they were grossed out and unsettled by that part which is sort of the goal but I remember being in pure awe as a kid, big grin throughout the whole thing. 😆

@@Beforezzz I remember being in the theater, and a girl behind me kept kicking the back of my seat throughout the whole scene. I got my own custom-made 4DX experience! Totally agree on this being a brilliant scene in a brilliant movie. There are a multitude of sequences that can stand as absolutely perfect self-contained episodes within this movie.

God I love when Bruce comes in to help save the day and that epic, heroic theme plays. I thought it was meant to show he wasn't a coward, which Driscoll accused him of earlier. But it also shows how reality can mirror fiction sometimes and now he's become the action star he'd only play in the movies. Love King Kong 2005!!!

Maybe it was.

To me, for the most part, for some reason I feel the music sounds more like you're in the fantasy world and imagine enter the fantasy or perhaps dark fantasy garden where it is filled with beautiful and deadly plants, including carnivorous ones which would bite off your finger should you touch them, water fountains along with birds chirping. But without owner of the garden, the longer you stay, the more plants are becoming more aggressive and hostile and along with hostile insects start to attack you and you have to fight your way to escape the garden. That's just me, but the music is fitting for me to think about this.
