u talk to much. and also u should respect king gnu!!! i am a half of a jananeese and american half so i know wat this song is about. plus, i am a BIG fan of King Gnu. and the VERY pich part is in the middle. ull see:) this song is a song of a drama that is called 35sai no shyojo. the story is about a 10 years old girl going in to a accident. and then in 25 years later the lil 10 years girl turned in to 35years old . and the 35years old girl will learn a losts of new stuff in the year she is in now. then she falls in love with a lil boy that was at the same school she waas in before the accident. the drama is soooooo good.

i will 100% rewatch it again with lyrics, it was amazing in japanese, i felt that!

I think this song expresses as follows: our lives might look special for each of us when young. But we notice that they are not so dramatic when we start getting old. They can be said like a sanmon-shosetsu, which means a not well-written story, but they’re good enough for us to live on. So let’s live together getting older together.

As some people has pointed it out, "Sanmon Shousetsu" means cheap, poor quality novel. This song is used as the theme song of Japanese Drama "35-sai Shoujo" (literally 35 year old girl) , which tells a story about a girl who wakes up after being asleep for 25 years because of an accident. The lyrics are heavily connected to the drama's premise: about growing older, and that even if your life is just a 'cheap novel', you're fine the way you are.

@@DanRichard 　I would like to make one correction.　三文（sanmon） was an old Japanese coinage, which in today's value is about 100 yen（about $1.00）.From there, 三文小説（a sanmon novel） means a cheap, lowbrow novel. For example, "The Threepenny Opera" is translated as "sanmon opera(三文オペラ)" in Japanese.

素敵な歌詞の翻訳をありがとうございます。ただ三文小説をthree-sentenceと訳すのは違うのかなと思いました。三「文」は昔のお金の一文銭のことであり（三文は現在の価値でいうと100円くらい）、そこから三文小説とはそれくらい安価で低俗な小説という意味になると思います。三文小説の翻訳意味は同じではありますが、「三文」の訳語に関しては違うのかなと思いコメントさせていただきました。横から不躾にもすいませんでした。
