KING FOR A DAY - JURASSIC LAKE

When you are used to catching normal-sized trout in normal places, visiting Jurassic Lake in Patagonia (full story in issue 20 of The Mission), feels like a journey into a parallel world. Our minds were blown away. Massive fish, in their hundreds, caught on dry flies, nymphs, streamers, deerhair mice and whatever else we threw at them. This is the film of that trip.
Cinematography by Ryan Janssens of Gung Ho.
Edited by David le Roux of Giraffe Creative.
Original music 'Mission River' by LeRoy Botha.
Featuring Abbie Schuster, Llewellyn Claven, Ryan Janssens and Tudor Caradoc-Davies.

I've been looking on KZread for a video on this location as I'm heading there early next year. This is by far and another mile ahead of anything else. An honest, unbiased, no frills yet superbly filmed, narrated and presented video that says everything a fishing video should and nothing it shouldn't. Liked the way you didn't hide the wind issues for example! Well done! My new addition to my go to Subscription list for trip planning!!!

Strobel Lake is a very famous destination. I can see why. But the rainbows condition seems to decrease.. I'm concerned about this skin condition, so many fish have it! Did Jurassic Lake Lodge give you any information about it? Is it a Fungal disease?

Great video guys,. Just one more info, how do you get there, by the small aircraft you see at the beginning and at the end or what?

We flew in on a small plane from Comodoro Rivadavia (after first flying in to Buenos Aires and catching a domestic flight), but these days most people get there from El Calafate.

That looks damn amazing. Gotta ask, whats the prey base that lets those trout get so huge? They're definitely not rating little insects

Weirdly enough they get big off these tiny scuds that are found in the lake. Then once they are huge they smash everything else they see.

Step one: win lottery. Step two: Buy a British double / hunt Cape buffalo. Step Three: Flyfish Jurassic lake.

lmao Thomas and Thomas slogan is so pretentious. I honestly cant imagine buying something that advertised being a fly-fishing asshole so clearly- and I am a fly-fishing asshole.
