this album is really great! from there started black metal. I'm 54 years old and I've been listening to this music since I was young.

I bought this album on cassette a day after it came out. Two days later I was sent to England. I was in the Air Force. Listening on cassette, my MAC flight flew over England, I played this album while seeing the patterns of the landscape, and geography of the UK from the air. We landed and my charter military bus drove around the English countryside, mostly East Anglia. This music made an impact on me, seeing ruins, cities, graveyards, fields, etc. My first time in Europe. Perfect Soundtrack.

I'm 46 years old, I've been listening to this album since I was a teenager and I like it more and more. I hope that the next generations will carry this sound forever. Simply unique !!!

If only the King knew how he inspired tons of first wave black metal bands with this album

I am 64 years old and I have been listening to King Diamond for the last 35 years and it's about the only heavy metal album that I'll ever listen to every album that he's ever made is a masterpiece and yes I agree the Hall of metal should be awarded to King Diamond the king of writing heavy metal

The Goblen Realm and what happen to our Father in the left eye of Odin is all in his music. This album changed my life forever - this was the first HM album I ever listened to on a bus ride from Borough Green to Tonbridge thanks to Adam Dunn, he had only just copied it from LP to tape to listen to on that long and boring hour-long ride. Back in '86 I was part of the punk movement still alive in Tonbridge in those days, but it was thanks to kicking Adam's gear that I got introduced to King Diamond, and it changed my life forever - I soon got my first electric guitar and learnt to play everything from Portrait and soon after all from, Abigail. KD still own a HUGE part of my life and my introduction into HM guitar. TOTALLY LOVE THEM.

This album is a bluprint for Metal , if there is a Heavy Metal hall of Fame the award or trophy should be related to King Diamond top hat or somthing with respect, as a teen you just bang your head to this, now at 48 ,it blows me away the technical behind the greatness of creating this album !!!!! Agreed , Most of the people I know that listen to the King don't even really try to understand the stories he tells in his songs. Hell they didn't even like "Them" which made me terribly sad

This is traditional metal like a heavier version of Judas Priest.

Saw them on this tour at Fender's ballroom for the first time in 86 🍻🤘

The guitar work on this album is beyond epic and timeless greatest solos and riffs that i know

Me and 3 friends of mine drove nearly 700 miles in about about 12 hours to Long Beach California to see this concert. There were 4 bands on the bill. Two were bands I'd never heard of (and haven't heard from since) but the other was Exodus. The venue was small and Heavily overbooked and crowded AF. The mosh pit got out of control and turned into a riot. Someone threw a 5 gallon bucket of mayonnaise onto the stage in the middle of King Diamond's set. That was the end of the show. My friends and I were all frying on vitamin A and pretty drunk too. The car had issues and we were stranded several states away from home but it was a relatively easy fix (a faulty battery). A generous mechanic gave us the still functional battery a customer had left in his shop after replacing it. It got us home. I long since quit frying and/or drinking. Good times.

Halloween, from the first time I heard it, it was a staple Rocker to be played on 10/31 every year, Of Course!! And then the "Voices from the Past" , such kick-ass music, lord have mercy,,, long live the KING.

Head banging with the KING since 1995 when I was 16! Saw The Graveyard Tour at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio in 97'!!! Best fucking show ever!!! When I'm in the mood for metal it's either THE KING or early MAIDEN! HAILS from Ohio,USA!!!

This sounds infinitely better than previous versions. The bass on Haunted sounds particularly good.

I attended this Album Tour. I believe it was in Reseda CA. I just missed the Don't Break the Oath concert, approximately one year prior to. I caught the Abigail concert a couple years later. Looking back,I didn't realize how great of a catch they were 👉👉

Yes,, Z-Rock that was satellite, d all over the country, introduced me to so many great bands, And King Diamond was one of the standouts, with me, it all started with this album.
