This was the set that sold me on the whole idea of the KC boxes, and my favorite of the eight big sets. This lineup of the band is as good as any I've ever heard in terms of their ability to make the same material sound fresh night after night, sometimes through improvised sections, sometimes through little shifts in dynamics or details of playing. I'd heard about how great they were during this period but it was hearing these twenty-odd shows that made it clear.

The Starless box is one of my favorites, as it covers my favorite Crimson record. The improvs are some pieces of brilliance. The live stuff is very fascinating to listen to as well but as with all the crimson boxes, they’re quite the hefty meal to take in. I joke with the girlfriend at times and I’m like “okay, which one of these are we gonna purge through today?” 😂😂 hope things look on the up regards to your personal life/work. If I were you, I would say something in regards to the issue and stand up for yourself. If there isn’t any remedies to be made, then you’re better off somewhere else. Wow. Those box sets look great. I bought this album when i was 15 in 1985. I played it so much I wore it out. Still listen to it every now and then

Hi Niamh, sorry to hear about your work situation. I never understand why some people!e feel the need to belittle others - probably something missing from their own lives. If you decide to stay then I hope things improve, but you shouldn't have to put up with such behaviour and you need to do what's best for you (and for your family in the current environment). Superb box set from a great period of the band. My Thrak box set arrived today - just now waiting on the Discipline one. BTW if you like reading about music as well as listening, check out Sid Smith's book on Crimson (he writes most of the booklet in these sets and is probably the preeminent authority on the band). It's a sad state of affairs that your workplace is toxic, but it's not as unusual as it should be, unfortunately. Good thing we have so much incredible music to make some of those down times in our lives feel better. And thank you for your channel.... it's a breath of fresh air on a crowded field.

As far as your job concerned depending on your situation, as for covid-19 , you want to protect your family, as far as the jobs concern over time you will learn everything and feel more at ease and when they hire another person down the road , I know that you will share your knowledge and encourage that person because that's the type of person you are. "This night wounds time" 🚬😎 I want this set, but can't find it for less than $180. USD. My old neighbor saw this version of the band when he was in college, 1973 or '74, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. To my utmost jealousy....

There can be jerks on every job. It's unfortunate you have to have one on your new one. I actually met my wife because we both were being treated rotten on a job! As soon as we got together and realized that the same a**holes had been treating us both badly we became a pair to resist them. We've been together a long time so I guess sometimes adversity has it's upside. Great boxset! 8 discs. That will keep you entertained for a while.

That CD with RF on the cover almost looks like he's smiling. That can't be right, the photo must be doctored surely! Sorry to hear about your bad experience at work. :-(

Thanks Niamh for the showcase.. Incidentally do you have ‘The Great Deceiver’ 4 c.d box-set by the band King Crimson...released in 1992 which is made up of live recordings from the 73/74 period...?

weird to see someone my age also into prog. if you haven’t listened to them already, i suggest you listen to egg, that band changed my life. sorta similar to soft machine, but more complex + they have dave stewart. i suggest all of their self titled album & “a visit to newport hospital” from the polite force

Where do you get your Crimson box sets? Amazon or is there a better place? These sets don't seem to be so easy to find. Forget about new; I can't find any brand new. Unfortunately; not alot of people are into Crimson; so I get the feeling they didn't have too many made..

most of the world hate their job . its a means to an end- usually cash. retail can be the worst sometimes. you just have to weigh the pros and cons and decide whether its worth it or not .

You should speak to who is in charge. I understand that you may wish to give the job up due to the health risks. I have this set. The set may be fine now, but I got the set in October 2014. There was notification about two or three years ago that one of the Blu Ray discs was faulty and if it had gone yellow to request a replacement. As the disc in question was yellow, I was able to request a replacement by email. The disc I got back I think was received from a guy in Poland. Have a look on the discs. As you may have a newer version, you may be fine.

My manger certainly was shocked that someone who's meant to be training me was so rude. I didn't like the job too much I wasn't being paid for my first week either..

@@the_prog_nerd I assume that some jobs you still get paid a week in hand. Let's hope the Manager had a word with this woman. Nobody should have to put up with this type of behaviour. In a way it's a form of bullying. Bullying is not acceptable in any work place and especially against someone who is new too.

@@the_prog_nerd Unfortunately, some people regardless of their age do not always act in the correct. The best thing is to do what you feel is right for you, try and put it behind you and move on. It's sad that you have to go through it, but you seem strong and will Get through it.

Don't quit. Do the opposite - stick around and do as good a job as you can. Ignoring that employee at the same time, doesn't exist.

That`s one of the most overrated King Crimson's album. I think "The Construktion of light" album, should be commented here.
