King County Council considers increasing minimum wage to more than $20 an hour
Some workers could be in for a pay raise if they are currently earning the minimum wage in unincorporated King County. However, the vote initially scheduled for Tuesday afternoon was delayed a week.
The current minimum wage in Washington state is $16.28 per hour. King County could adopt a stepped increase for minimum wages, starting at $20.29 for businesses with 500 or more employees. Lower increases would be mandated for medium-sized and smaller businesses, depending on the outcome of the vote.
If adopted, King County would join Seattle, Tukwila, SeaTac, Renton, Burien, and other cities in setting its minimum wage that goes beyond the amount set by state law. Seattle’s minimum wage is currently $19.97 per hour.

I just get the feeling that every single legislative act around here is the opposite of what needs to be done
A lot of people need to read about economics, and the worst thing is these politicians don't know anything about running a business.
This is not the solution people, this will just cause more inflation.
Companies are already closing down, or leaving due to crime. Look at the problems 20 dollar min wage has wrought on CA. I prefer policies that don’t end in bread lines.
If minimum wage go's up , So will Rent, Food, Gas, Power , and so on , to Pay for the increase. Just a Fact of life.

It's funny the recently enacted delivery driver wage increase caused problems so bad they're considering repealing it, now they're going to do it with all jobs. I can't wait to see how they get what they voted for. The fact wages can't keep up w/ housing/rent is a real issue though. I suspect we will need an actual paradigm shift in the economy to solve the actual problem. Clearly leaning too much into capitalism or socialism doesn't work. Add that w/ letting invaders in and things can only get worse.
A mentally disabled friend of mine who works at Burger King had his hours cut from 30 to 10 a week in California a week after the minimum wage hike there.

They’ll hire high school students so that it affects your full time status
Someone inform that business owner, it's uncontrolled government spending and inflation, moreso than taxing the rich which is also a bandaid...
Federal minimum wage should be 25.00 an hour according to professor Galloway. Based off of productivity, inflation and corporate profits. That's not even our area. That would be Federal so even Mississippi and everywhere else.
condo studio loft , 0 bedroom, was $650,000 in Seattle. No min wage can help.
Who will earn more? State and federal through various taxes :))
How about they start looking at the large corporations buying up apartment complexes and making the rent so damn high that it takes two people to pay for a one bedroom apartment
Everyone got bills to pay but this is really screwing us. I feel like I have a desireable decent paying job yet I'm not that much ahead of the minimum now. It feels very socialist and will eventually make us all equally poor.
Minimum is too high making the prices go up
You always raise minimum wage but never ssdi or ssa and that leaves disabled people even worse off because the wage increase then increases prices of everything

No no no no no..... This is not the solution. Businesses who want to keep good employees will offer their own raises
“It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By "business" I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt
Based on the track record of past legislation in King County, I'm 100% certain this will fix all the problems. After all, the Council members know better than the business owners when it comes to capitalism and the economy.
lol seattle..
Get a real job.... minimum wage is not designed to be a career... Stop destroying families with wage hikes for the uneducated.
wtf hell nah
