From other accounts of the life of Queen Elizabeth and also Prince Phillip both had to intervene in the state of Charles and Diana because there was so much gossip, judgment, and divided opinions. Prince Phillip actually befriended Diana because he knew what it was like to be an outsider. They wrote very poignant letters to each other of encouragement. The broken home made it difficult for the monarch to intervene in the end and conceded to allowing the divorce. Neither of them was devasted in the end and became good and loving parents to the boys and good friends to each other.

One major thing that really upsets me, and I blame Lizzy, she should have NEVER allowed them to marry, see if he was as a loyal to Camille as his uncle was to his wife and give up this throne, Diana was slapped in her face again, second of all Lizzie should have never allowed everything that she allowed, these two got everything they wanted, so I just told her how classless even Lizzy was she didn’t go by Royal standard. I believe she’d casually/briefly dated the man she subsequently married. Her father had a meeting with Queen/The Firm, her father spoke to this fellow (maybe money and favours were exchanged, who knows?); but in the end her engagement to this fellow was announced. She later stated she (apparently) didn’t even know a thing about it, until people called to congratulate her. That would have been that if she’d just stayed away, which she seemed incapable of doing. The three of them were selfish, entitled, childish, immoral twats who cared for nothing (not even their kids); but themselves. Oh well, Diana was right, there WERE three people in her marriage. She knew before she married him, that he was wrong, so who knows why she carried on anyways. It’s sad that the firms interference, wrecked two marriages and two sets of kids lives. Love Camilla, or hate her, you gotta hand her gall to her, she’s taken Diana’s rightful place in every way; BUT has not put a foot wrong since Diana’s death. Diana has to claim her role in the debacle and in her subsequent demise though too. She did stupid things (personally I believe she was a bit “borderline”), and many of the things she did were “for attention”, to keep the world’s attention on her. I think life works out the way it’s meant to, not the way we’d prefer, but the way it’s meant to be. Clearly in this situation, how could it possibly have turned out any other way??? Sadly.

I learned that a discussion with Camilla when Princess Diana confronted her about trying to give up Prince Charles that Camilla said, "you got the love of the people why the need to have Prince Charles?" Diana wanted to have a fair chance at her marriage but Camilla was selfish, and the Royal did nothing, so it became a burden to Diana to fight alone in her battle against Camilla. The strong bond Prince Charles had with Camilla made it impossible for Diana to find a connection to Prince Charles and so once she gave birth to her second child the marriage seems to end.

With his reply "whatever love means" sparked warning bells with many of the general public. Who says such things when making the announcement of Engagement. He acted appallingly. Camilla's actions was disgusting. Not only did she trample all over Diana's feelings but,she also had little if any, regard for her husband.
