King Charles III Coronation | The Flypast
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Unfortunately, due to the weather, the flypast to mark the coronation of King Charles III was scaled-back to just the helicopters of the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and the British Army followed by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team - The Red Arrows.
The practice featured more aircraft (and blue skies!), that can be viewed here - • The King's Coronation ...

Wow. I'm really shocked that people don't realize that the Helicopter Flyovers were the most touching and personal tribute that could have happened on this, his Majesty's coronation because King Charles used to be a Navy helicopter pilot.
FFS you mean to tell me the eurofighter typhoon and the F35b lightning cannot fly in bad weather yet those damn helicopters can???

It is an insanely complex thing to organise on a gin clear day. It is not about being able to fly, it is about being able to fly AND do it safely. Getting 50 aircraft in the same piece of sky, at the right speed, at the right time, at the right spacing, at the right height is so complex due to geometry, physics and an insane amount of mental arithmetic that has to be calculated dynamically and constantly the entire way from 150 miles out with a tolerance of +/- 5 seconds.... for 50 aircraft!
Whoa you didn't hang around getting the footage up! You picked a good spot to watch from there on what looks like waterloo bridge? Shame the rest of the lineup didn't manage to attend

No chance they were flying in that weather unfortunately. The only element that didn’t get off the ground were the BBMF.

They should have brought an a10 and used the brrt just for this lol
Really a pity the weather spoiled the flypast, except for The Reds.

Damn, you are right!
Big shame about the weather so i hope it's ok for Trooping The Colour flypast on the 17th June.
I assume most of the RAF's aircraft are made from tissue paper then, given patchy light rain grounded most of them. Odd how the 1970s Hawks were unaffected though...

It is civilian laws that stop play.... The Shard was in cloud, which means there was around 500ft of airspace to play with. Without boring you with 101 reasons why that is asking for a mid-air collisions over London, it is waaaaay more complex when the weather is marginal.
Who's flying them hawks these days, asylum seekers living at RAF Scampton.
Very sad the RAF is reduced to this.
The f35 is an all weather fighter, we had a little bit of rain and they wouldn't fly it.

We have so few most likely on standby if Russkis decide to do any recce missions. Biggest disappointment was no BOB memorial flight but understandable with weather conditions.

Its not that they cant fly, its about getting all the aircraft into the same piece of sky at the right time when they cant see each other - imagine the carnage if a couple of the big jets collided in mid air over a populated area. Not worth the risk just for a ceremonial exercise.

@@K1W1fly We've had radar for around 80 years and modern military tracking can follow hundreds of air targets, so not being able to see well is a poor excuse. imo.

@@Thurgosh_OG a flypast is an intensely visual exercise - you dont fly on instruments or radar low level next to other dissimilar aircraft. When you have done some formation flying, let me know...
Pathetic result in the end really. all that training, time and money spend and the weather stopped our air force doing a simple fly by

It is far from simple! A mixed formation flypast is a nightmare on a clear day in perfect conditions, in bad weather, a different level! Try driving 300 miles with a tolerance of arriving +/- 5 seconds of a time dictated by someone else, regardless of traffic, weather, fuel stops, hunger, pee etc... Now try and coordinate that for 50 vehicles in a neat convoy, equally spaced 10 seconds apart for their arrival but within +/- 5 seconds of the time allocated. These vehicles are all different kinds, some Ferrari's, some motorbikes, some huge 18 wheeler trucks, a few family cars, a few SUVs. So when the trucks slow down for a hill, everyone else is backed up and has to slow down, but aircraft can't always slow down too much, or they fall out the sky, so they have no choice but to orbit.... but what about the guys behind them.... and behind them.... end behind them.... Remember when one person brakes in the fast lane gently, and 10 cars back people are locking their wheels up due to braking so hard?! Imagine that in the air.... The risk is just insane and not worth it!
