This story talks about King Ahab's idolatry and his departure from the Lord's law and his commandments and also his marriage to Jezebel. It shows that God continues to love the people of Israel and for this reason he gives a sign through the prophet Elijah, pressing the people without rain and reminding them that they need to be reconciled with him (I Kings 16:29-34 and I Kings 17:1)
