I traded in my paperwhite for the basic kindle. I actually prefer the size, fits into my small cross body purse and don’t need it to be waterproof. The paperwhite imo is too over hyped when the basic is a fabulous device and pricing is perfect!!

yesss so true! I think the main reason was because of the sage green paperwhite, however with stickers and skins available, it made no difference for me haha. Im glad you are happy with the trade!! let me know what is your current read

i became a kindle girly at the beginning of the year and I'm so happy with my kindle basic !! happy reading 🫶🏻

i got the same model for christmas and i LOVE it, i find that the screen and one tone of back light don’t bother me at all and i don’t plan on bringing it near water so it was an easy pick :) it’s so convenient for reading and i love that it’s /just/ reading and it doesn’t have any distractions

Love the warm light and extra screen space of paperwhite but glad there was a model which suited you at a better price

I love the 2022 basic. The name is sorta misleading as it is anything but basic.. It's almost the same as the paperwhite aside from the screen being slightly smaller, it doesn't have warm light and it isn't waterproof. All those I can live without. The basic also has double the storage space of the paperwhite, which is nice for audiobooks. Seriously a great buy

@@honeyscozycorner A book called "on the brinks" by Sam Millar. I kinda went overboard and put almost 70 books on the thing lol On the brightside I find that I read much faster on the kindle, so I'm sure I'll be able to bust through a good bunch of them this year.

This is the one I chose, too! I don't plan on taking an e-reader to the beach or in a bath tub, so I dont't need a water resistant gimmick.

I originally got a paperwhite when it was on sale. It was my first kindle and I loved it but it wasn’t very comfortable to hold for long periods of time. Recently the basics were on sale so I picked one up just to see how I liked it. It’s way more comfortable. The basic now goes everywhere with me while my paperwhite is kept in a gooseneck arm attached to my headboard, I also have a page turner on it so it’s my reading in bed kindle and my basic is my travel kindle.

I also bought the Kindle basic simply because I love the size! I don't like nor need anything bigger, although I wish they made a paperwhite in the basic size so we wouldn't miss out on all the bells and whistles! 😅

I have a blue basic with a blue Amazon cover...very nice. At seventy-six I find myself using Audible more then Kindle.

Can we read pdfs on kindle basic?

As a clutz I got the paper white, purely for waterproof aspect, it arrives today, but I waited for a sale because I couldn’t justify the price. My old kindle is the same size as the basic so I am worried about the size upgrade but I’m excited nonetheless

Yes that's a good idea! I wish the basic was waterproof. I'm always storing it in its case the second I put it down because I'm scared of spilling something hahah. Let me know what you think about the size upgrade!

Just got the basic kindle. Will probably miss the back light but honestly I wasn't too eager to spend so much for just one feature.

hi! I would not recommend getting the kindle basic wet since it is not waterproof and water can easily get into the sides of the screen. The paperwhite is marketed as waterproof though, so you wouldn't have to worry about getting it wet! hope this helps.

The look and feel of the Kindle app on my iPad is far better than the PaperWhite. Don’t even bother with it!

You didn't say anything . What is your point? For example, is there audio capability etc.. .? Well, I don't think so. It is a very stupid device! You better have a Kindle application on your iPad.

The screen looks just like paper, while the app is simply black text on a white background. There's not as much blue light, so less eye strain and headaches. The Kindle basic weighs almost nothing, is small, and fits in big pockets. The battery lasts for WEEKS. There are no apps, so you're not tempted to go on social media and can stay focused. It doesn't cost as much as an ipad. Manga look great on it (if that's your thing).
