Please, the Supremes had a classic but it was structured utterly wrong and she sings it as if's she's running around in a circle, and sounding like a baby too. It's also too fluffy and all over the place. Kim and Ricky revamped it and turned into a perfect blend of stadium rock and contemporary electro perfection. Add Kim's stunning voice and a great video, and the Supreme one just fades into the ether, which is where it was anyway. The fact it went to No.1 means nothing. An American act with the over-inflated support of their country people. So what? It's barely worthy of a Top 30 entry. It's so unimportant that even Kim didn't know the song well when her brother first raised the idea. It wasn't hard to make a completely new and far better version of it-most of the best 80s acts could do it, but Kim just rules it. When people think of that song, they think of it as HERS as she owns it completely. It's not like there isn't several decades between them, and the song had been all but forgotten in many people's mind, and I'm sure still would be if it weren't for Kim and Ricky. The Supremes are NOT Supreme at all, even Bananarama (!!) did a better version of one of their forgotten songs too, and think you'll find Supremes have already been dropped as "most successful girl act" a number of times since then as others have shunted them out of the way. History is history and they're lucky they had what they had, and mostly down to their writers and producers, and Diana Ross, arguably the least talented of the three was allowed to live beyond it, up to a point, though barely successfully and never under her own steam.

@brobbus0 That in itself is what makes it original you stupid madonna loving cow. The fact that the 1st one was so dated, badly sung and nothing of the attitude it was supposed to have made it prime material of only the best to make something worthwhile out of it. Most covers suck up to the originals badly, making their right to exist entirely dubious at best, with this, the opposite is almost true of the original. So, apart from a slip in 1990 and 1995, Kim's musical style is all hers and generally she's ahead of the game. This covers rock AND pop. The 1st barely covers motown!
