This was in my opinion when she was on the top of her carreer, maybe not selling the most records, but musically. If I could choose just 10 songs to listen on the rest of my life, this would be one of them.

Define sell. If we're going down that route, when did she EVER sell?! What does that mean anyway. She ended the 80s as the biggest UK female than any other and that's including the ones that many bang on about-Lennox, Sade, Alison Moyet, but these probably don't sell all across Europe consistently as Kim does. Admittedly she'll never top those career trio of killer album she delivered in a fantastic threesome hat trick-"Select", "Catch As Catch Can" and "Teases & Dares"-hell, even the titles are genius, and never named after song titles on the album-a clumsy move most artists make, but unlike most, every album she does is utterly playable forever and that goes for all her non-album stuff and B-sides added together over the years.

It's strange, of all the songs on "Love Is", this is the one I like the least. The attempt to follow Belinda Carlisle is a little too unsubtle... on the other hand I most appreciate "Heart Over Mind" and "The Light of the Moon". It's an underrated album.

@@oldskoolmusicnostalgia Well, I like Belinda too, so maybe thats why, but I dont think this song is very "Belinda" :) ..But the whole album is really great, but I would choose "million miles away" and "who do you think you are" as the best except "Love is holy" :)

@@kyachdistent1301 Well, the first album and select sold pretty well afaik, at leasthere in Sweden those mush have been the ones selling best, and then "Close". ..But I agree that its irrlevant if it sell or not, most music that actually sell is not of my taste anyway.

@@oldskoolmusicnostalgia Hardly. What about Belinda attempting to follow Kim on certain songs on her albums, but then again, Kim is far harder to copy as she doesn't have one signature sound beyond intelligent catchy-verses leading to blood-rushing hook-filled choruses, so she's far from limited unlike many of the women people go on about, and Bel admitted limiting herself too after her 1991 album, round about when this came out. Blame her writers Knowles/Shipley who pick a sound and stick with it, ditto Diane Warren. You don't need to love 'Love Is Holy' best just cos unlikeable critics say so. On the contrary, though I love it, 'Million Miles Away' and 'Try Again' struck me the quickest and 'Too Late' but whole album's cool and an up from the previous, though Kim did go a bit too all soul-like for the 90s, though we still await her locked-away 1998 album if ever. She's returned with her best record since "Another Step" (and that wonderful full 80s B-side/non-album collection) in 2018 and that's no mean feat for anyone. You're utterly right about "Love Is" being an underrated album, but then all her albums are, but you'll never find a more criminally underrated and misunderstood album of hers or anyone's than "Catch As Catch Can". People took leave of their brains when THAT came out. 'Love Is Holy' is the only thing that sounds closest to Bel on there but then Bel never recorded it, so there. Far worse is Kim wanting to veer now the shitty S/A/W sound before in 1990 with 'Time'.

Yes everyone seems to have had to since the 90s. Blame the All About Eve debacle from April 1988, though it took a while for it to seep down for everyone, but hasn't everyone had it with all the miming. Mind you, enough people on this have shit voices anyway. And shit songs, but that's the mainstream for you. Little taste and then some.
