Viola masterclass by Professor Kim Kashkashian in which the third piece from Schumann's Märchenbilder op. 113 is worked with the student Ekaterina Zubkova. This masterclass held at the Escuela Reina Sofía in April 2009.

Abstract:
Professor Kashkashian comments that the need to listen as if they were two planes (one bass line and the fast figuration above). They work in depth the rapid movement of the bow that this piece requires. The bass line must be clear and we have to feel density in the notes, the bow has to help us with that. In the bow strokes, the figuration in triplets must be clearly heard. The most melodic part must be played strictly in tempo, it is a martial rhythm. They also comment on the moments in which the tempo can vary depending on the structural function of the passage (for example in bridges or transitions). The teacher also talks about bow coordination and phrasing distribution and how it influences the result of the sound.
