I can't even begin to explain the nostalgia and melancholy this song evokes. I was born at the end of the 80s but still feel such a connection to this time and sound.

So many great memory’s come back listening to this tune

I was 19 years old in 1981. I was living in my car that year. I can remember this song playing on the radio when I was driving around looking for a place to park for the night where I wouldn't be run off by some security guard or be spotted by a coworker or someone else I knew. It really was a great song, but needless to say, for me it brings back memories of a very difficult time.

Nothing like the original.

It’s a great song that really works SO perfectly with her raspy, smoky voice…but I can’t stop looking and laughing at the drummer upstaging her the whole time in the back. He is like the Dad telling Dad jokes, just so into himself and unaware at the same time. Love it.

Was alive and well. Ahh, yes the summer of 1981!, remember it well. Reaganomics just barely starting, he got shot in March, survived. Double digit inflation, interest rates, unemployment still, but ended in a few years. 99¢ a gallon gasoline. I got the brand new album in March of 1981. Given to me for free in a promotion for her in Las Vegas Nevada. Signed by her at the Dunes hotel and country club casino. Great year, great time, great people, in a much different country then. A time never to return again.

Wonderful song, she has powerful and hoarse voice, on my teenage days l like her very much!

I was also 19 in 1981 but not living in my car. This song won "song of the year" in 1981. I remember watching the award show at my friends house when Kim Carnes won the award. It was the summer I spent working in a grocery store. I really miss those days.

Yea he's doing a terrific job of faking it aint he ??? One tip off it's not live if you cannot tell, is that the song fades out instead of ending. Live performances always have an ending, not a fade-out.

1981... Bette Davis Eyes was the #1 song of the year. How ironic. The birth year of a co- worker. I let the co-worker know when they turned 40. I played a clip from All About Eve when Miss Davis (Margot Channing) complaining about turning 40. "Three months I turned 40. 4-0." This year I think I'll play again for them this year (2024) A few years older. But I will remind them anyways!

The whole song has a sexual undertone that is way too subtle and sophisticated for a middle schooler to write. Maybe the girl wrote a line of the hook or something but the whole song? Hard to believe.
