Kiln Opening! Mostly good despite the thumbnail!

I finally got some of the pieces I hand-built glazed and fired. Hope you get inspired and like the video. Thanks for watching!

I can’t believe I didn’t finish watching this kiln opening! But yay two in one day!! For the deer mug you can try and find down that glaze drip and fire it again. Maybe worth a try. I’ve never seen that glaze combo come out anything like that!! That basket is so awesome. The handle looks so much like leather.

The Easter plates with the soft white glaze are gorgeous and I loved that the sangria on the flower ran a little (on the travel tumbler). I always look forward to your videos! Thanks for sharing!

Love the turtle mug! Do the sky and seaweed on the mountain mug. Then make another one and use the cobalt/blue hydrangea for a night scene.

The twisting is just warpage. When it’s a small dish like that a grinding wheel will usually do the trick.

Hey Sarah! Love the sweater mug the button thumb rest is a great idea! Is it red the cranberry? Looks pink. Cobalt is too dark for texture if u go 2 coats it will be patchy but it’s a gorgeous colour! The blue hydrangea combo is so pretty like a galaxy. Ohhh so sorry about yr beautiful plate! Kintsugi lol. The ❄️ mugs r so pretty! Lav m des dusk looks metallic on camera! If the deer is raw clay or clear u can prob carefully dremel back the drip n reapply clear paint his face w black ug. Autumn purp sangria so pretty. Ohhhh that pink plate is to die for!! Lovely kiln xx

Thanks Nat. Yes, the pinky, red sweater mug is spectrum cranberry! Pretty color. So the desert dusk is a bit glittery, on both the cordovan one and lavender mist. Interesting.

Hi Sarah, love the Sweater mug. Love the leaf plate. So pretty. Cobalt and blue hydrangea is a gorgeous combo. Love the snowflake mug. Such a shame about your plate. The glaze combo is gorgeous. I love the saying I’m not weird I’m a limited edition 😊 love both your rippled plates. The design is beautiful. I vote for cobalt, Celedon blume on your mug. It looks like a starry nights sky 🌌 Great kiln unload. ❤

I just absolutely love your pottery style and videos. It makes me happy to watch your kiln openings! I'm a new pottery myself and I am so inspired that you said you have only been doing this a year. I have so many questions! I would love to see a video of your work space. What kiln? What wheel? What forms for hand building? How do you have all these glazes? How much time have you spent a day practicing since you started? I'm so impressed! Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and ideas!

@@christinahubbard218you are too kind! After taking classes I found it too hard to get to the studio (homeschool mom of three) so I searched for my own kiln. I bought a small “baby kiln” off marketplace but quickly outgrew it. Then I found a bigger one on Facebook marketplace from a lady that was moving. It’s like 25 years old but still works so far! As far as the glazes, we don’t talk about how many glazes I have. 🤪 I made a small corner in the school room with shelves but I tend to migrate to the dining room table to do my glazing. My wheel is a cheapie from Amazon and is on our back patio. 😅

That's wonderfully inspiring to hear that you are making it work and creating such beautiful pieces with what you can. I have a great co-op studio about 30 min from my house (Bay School, in Mathews VA) but it's very hard for me to get there between my work schedule while my kids are having me from school this summer. I'm trying to find a way to safely fit a work space into my home as well. Thank you for your inspiration!
